Texans safety Andre Hal announced on Friday that he has been diagnosed with Hodgkinâs lymphoma.
Hal got an initial diagnosis from the team physician and is undergoing further testing at聽MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston as he puts together a treatment plan.
鈥淢y faith in God and the support from my family Philip Rivers Jersey , friends, teammates and coaches will see me through this difficult time,â Hal said in a statement. âI will not let this diagnosis stop me from fulfilling my dreams and I do not want anyone to feel sorry for me. I know how to beat this and I will beat it.â
The McNair family and head coach Bill OâBrien also released statements pledging their full support for Hal as he battles the disease.
Itâs a process the Texans know all too well after offensive lineman David Quessenberry was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkinâs lymphoma in 2014. Quessenberry returned to action last year and played in the teamâs final two games of the season.
Everyone at PFT聽hopes for a similar outcome for Hal as well as Giants General Manager Dave Gettleman, who announced his own lymphoma diagnosis earlier this week.
Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly will receive ESPNâs Jimmy V Award for the toughness and perseverance heâs displayed during his ongoing battle with oral cancer.
ESPN officially announced the honor Monday Alex Collins Jersey , a few hours after Kelly first revealed the news while attending his charitable foundationâs 32nd golf tournament outside of Buffalo. Kelly will be honored during the networkâs ESPY Awards on July 18.
The award is named for late North Carolina State menâs basketball coach Jimmy Valvano, who gave an inspirational speech at the ESPYs in 1993 less than two months before he died of cancer. Valvano most notably led the Wolfpack on an improbable run to win the 1983 NCAA Tournament championship.
Kelly had surgery to have cancer removed from his jaw in March after tests revealed a recurrence. The 58-year-old Kelly was initially diagnosed five years ago with skin cancer and had been cancer free since September 2014.
Kelly is still unable to eat solid foods. He is scheduled to have an operation on June 21, when doctors plan to add tissue to the upper portion of his mouth. He is then scheduled to have permanent dentures inserted during another procedure in September.
Kelly said heâs honored to receive the award, before joking that âthe only bad thing about it is you have to go through a lot to get it.â
Difficult as it has been for him Andy Levitre Jersey , Kelly leans on his faith and says he continues to battle to help inspire others who have cancer.
âThe good Lord has put me in this situation to help not only the people out there who are suffering from cancer, but little kids, too, who are going through tough times to never give up Jarius Wright Jersey , to keep fighting, because you never know,â Kelly said.
