EDMONTON -- It appears the Edmonton Oilers have another weapon to add to their already potent arsenal. David Perron scored a goal and added an assist on Saturday as the Edmonton Oilers came away with a 5-2 exhibition victory over the Vancouver Canucks. The 25-year-old from Sherbrooke, Que., upped his pre-season totals to three goals and four points in his first three games with the Oilers since coming in an off-season trade with St. Louis for fellow forward Magnus Paajarvi. Perron was pleased when he first learned of the trade because he would be leaving a strict defensive system with the Blues and joining the likes of Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle and Nail Yakupov in a more free-wheeling system with the Oilers. That feeling hasnt changed since he officially arrived in Edmonton. "Im even more excited now," said Perron. "Im trying to do my best to be a factor on both sides of the puck and produce every night. Hopefully I can keep improving. This is just the start. "Its nice to be coming to a team that is a little more offensive oriented. It is not like St. Louis wasnt trying to score, but it was pretty evident that they are a defence-first hockey team." Oilers head coach Dallas Eakins believes his club could have a gem in Perron. "I think we have a lot there," said Eakins.. "He can score, he competes hard and hes not afraid to get his nose dirty. Weve let him loose on the penalty kill a little bit. I think we have a very well-rounded player and another guy who is excited to play hockey. He really likes to play the game and thats important." Sam Gagner, Ryan Smyth, Yakupov and Will Acton also scored for the Oilers (3-1-1). Mike Santorelli and Jannik Hansen replied for the Canucks (0-3-0). The Canucks got on the board with the games first shot 1:20 into the first as Santorelli snuck the puck through the pads of Oilers starting goalie Jason LaBarbera. Edmonton had a full two minute five-on-three power play seven minutes into the opening period after a head shot on Hall, but were unable to get a puck past Vancouver goalie Eddie Lack. The Oilers tied the game on the power play with seven minutes left in the first as Perron sent a pass through the crease, giving Gagner an easy tap-in to an open net. Edmonton went up 2-1 four minutes into the second period with a short-handed goal from Perron, who picked up a rebound and sent a backhander in for his third of the pre-season. The Canucks lost centre Jordan Schroeder midway through the second as he had to be helped off the ice favouring his left leg after blocking a shot. Gagner also left the game late in the second after taking a Zack Kassian stick in the face and losing several teeth and did not return. The game stayed 2-1 until 15:58 of the third period when a puck deflected to Smyth at the doorstep and he shovelled it past Lack for a two-goal lead. Less than a minute later the Canucks responded as Hansen picked the corner on Oilers backup Tyler Rimmer to make it 3-2. Edmonton put the game away shortly afterwards, however, as Yakupov beat Lack with a quick wrist shot and Acton scored into an empty net. Notes: It was the second consecutive pre-season game between the two teams. Edmonton won the first contest 4-1 in Vancouver on Wednesday. The Oilers and Canucks will next meet in regular season play on Oct. 5 in Vancouver. Winger David Booth was expected to make his first appearance in a Canucks game since March 16th, but left the morning skate after just five minutes with what was described as groin stiffness. Chris Higgins, Alex Edler and Schroeder made their pre-season debuts for Vancouver... Neither Daniel or Henrik Sedin made the trip to Edmonton. Defenceman Anton Belov made his Oilers debut after arriving at training camp a few days late due to visa problems. The six-foot-four Russian was a coveted free agent after a career-high 26 points in 46 games for Omsk Avangard in the KHL last season. Darren Sproles Jersey . Ouellette, from Montreal, already has three Olympic gold medals since joining the team in 1999. Authentic Fletcher Cox Jersey . "Four now," Carl Gunnarsson told the Leaf Report proudly following a 5-2 victory over New York on Tuesday night, the clubs fifth straight at home. http://www.eaglesjerseyssportsonline.com/jerome-br...es-jers ey/ . -- Arizona raced out to a big lead and did not back off, hitting the accelerator instead. Authentic Wes Hopkins Jersey . Arsenal failed to take full advantage of its main rivals stumbles on Saturday as substitute Gerard Deulofeu levelled with a hard shot from a tight angle in the 84th minute to give Everton a deserved point. Ahead of a crucial fortnight that will see them play against Napoli in the Champions League, Manchester City and Chelsea, Arsenal leads by five points ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea. Brent Celek Jersey . Down by seven with 90 seconds left in regulation, thats where they looked comfortable. PHILADELPHIA -- The music is blasting and the Philadelphia Phillies are having fun again. Theres plenty to celebrate these days. Chase Utley walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, lifting Philadelphia to a 4-3 comeback victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night. It was the fifth win in six games for the Phillies, who have won four of those contests in their last at-bat, including the last three. "Anytime you have walk-off (wins), it creates excitement and right now its carrying over to the next day," Phillies interim manager Ryne Sandberg said. The music blared in the Philadelphia clubhouse following the game - something that hasnt been the case for most of this disappointing season. "Were playing together and having fun in here, being able to go out on the field believing in each other," Philadelphia left-hander Cole Hamels said. "Were taking that direction and have to keep pushing in that direction as long as we possibly can." Cody Asche led off the ninth with a single and went to third on Jimmy Rollins single. Heath Bell (4-2) intentionally walked Michael Young to load the bases for Kevin Frandsen. After striking out Frandsen, Bell was lifted for left-hander Eury De La Rosa. De La Rosa ran the count to 3-2 and Utley walked when the final pitch appeared to be a bit inside. "We were trying to work both sides of the plate," Diamondbacks catcher Tuffy Gosewisch said. "The last pitch started out, then came in and barely missed." Darin Ruf homered for the second straight game for Philadelphia, which improved to 5-3 under Sandberg. Ruf has eight homers and 12 RBIs in 21 games this month. Matt Davidson had two hits and an RBI for the Diamondbacks, who have dropped four of five, damaging their fleeting playoff hopes. They stayed seven games back of the Reds for the second NL wild-card spot. "They just got it done in the ninth," Arizona manager Kirk Gibson said. Jonathan Papelbon (4-1) pitched a scoreless ninth for the win. The Phillies jumped to a 1-0 lead on Rufs two-out hommer in the second.dddddddddddd The Diamondbacks answered with three runs in the fourth off hard-luck Hamels. Paul Goldschmidt was credited with a double after left fielder Domonic Brown lost his routine fly ball in the lights as twilight fell. Martin Prado drove in Goldschmidt and Adam Eaton with a two-run double, and Davidsons RBI single put Arizona ahead 3-1. "We got a big break on the ball lost in the lights, but we couldnt tack on," Gibson said. That was it for the Diamondbacks against Hamels, who allowed six hits and walked one in seven innings. The left-hander has a 1.89 ERA in his last five starts but just one win and four no-decisions over that stretch. Hamels, who entered with the fifth-lowest run support average among starters in the majors (3.30), remained 5-13 on the season. "Ultimately, you dont want it to come down to the last at-bat, but winning is winning," Hamels said. "Im glad were able to battle and stay with it. Its a good feeling to have something going the right way." The Phillies tied it when Carlos Ruiz hit a two-run double off Wade Miley in the sixth. That was the last inning for Miley, who yielded five hits and two walks. The Phillies threatened in the eighth against Bell, putting runners on first and second with two outs. But Bell struck out John Mayberry Jr. swinging to end the inning. The Diamondbacks got a runner to second with two outs in the ninth off Papelbon, but Cliff Pennington flew out to centre to end the threat. NOTES: Arizonas J.J. Putz dislocated his pinky finger in the seventh inning trying to field Rollins grounder to shortstop. Putz will be placed on the disabled list on Saturday. . Ruiz went 2 for 4, raising his average to .600 (12 for 20) in his last six games. . The three-game series resumes Saturday night when Phillies RHP Ethan Martin (2-2, 5.23 ERA) opposes RHP Randall Delgado (4-4, 3.82 ERA). ... The Phillies wore maroon and white pinstriped uniforms similar to what the club wore in the 1990s on 90s night. ... Frandsen snapped an 0-for-17 skid with a sixth-inning single.
