The Nike athlete and two-time fittest man on the planet's first PE Nike shoe is largely Adidas Superstar Womens Pink inspired by two of Mat Fraser's favorite things: Nike Air Presto Homme weightlifting and motorcycles. The sleek black design has custom Nike Air Max 97 Femme haptic printing on the upper, replicating a barbell's diamond knurling. The bull’s skull on the tongue patch is reminiscent of a motorcycle jacket patch, the lining is quilted like a motorcycle seat, the back of the shoe is leather and the heel clip and shoelace tips are gunmetal chrome – all nods to premium motorcycle detailing.
The two circles on each heel represent the two first-place medals Fraser earned at the highest level of global competitive fitness, and nods toward his goal of a three-peat. The letters “HWPO," which stands for "hard work pays off" and is Fraser's personal mantra, line the insole.
"These design elements are really about celebrating some of my passions inside and outside of the gym," says Fraser. Nike Air Max 90 Womens Pink "This shoe gives me such sense of accomplishment. It Adidas Deerupt Womens really gets me amped up to keep doing what I'm doing — Nike Air Max TN Womens working hard and trying to make myself the best athlete I Adidas NMD Womens possibly can."
The Nike Metcon 4 Mat Fraser will be available June 8 on nike.com and at select retailers.Since its first haul (a Nike SB Dunk) in 2008, Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Concepts has held a consistent line among its many ideas: the lobster. There have been a handful of Dunks to claw at it — blue at retail and an F&F yellow, as well as a few variations of the aesthetic on the KYRIE 4.
“Initially, I felt we shouldn’t touch the theme again. It was a moment. We celebrated it. We loved it," shares Concepts creative director Deon Point. "Ten years later, I'm in more Lobster conversations than I can believe. Kyrie and Jason Tatum are wearing versions on the court, Adidas NMD Womens Sue Bird in the WNBA, too. It's like this whole Nike Epic React Flyknit Womens movement."
This month, the scheme returns to its Nike Air Max 95 Ultra Jacquard Femme original Dunk base but in a new purple makeup that adds fuel to Nike Air Max 90 Femme the flame.
"I've probably researched lobsters more than Jacques Cousteau himself," says Point. "There's versions in color variations, depending on the depth of how far a lobster can go below sea level. And, theoretically, there are lobsters in colors that haven't been found yet."Purple is one of those colors. But that hasn't stopped Point. While there isn't exact proof that there are purple lobsters floating around, if you mix blue and red — the colors of the Concepts' originals — one might just birth. The Concepts x Nike SB Dunk Lobster releases December 14 at Concepts, December 15 at select retailers and December 17 via SNKRS.
