Saints as the best team in the NFL after their win over the Los Angeles Rams. The previously undefeated Rams Youth Ian Thomas Jersey , the Saints, the New England Patriots, and the Kansas City Chiefs have been the stories of the season as far as the league is concerned. Their offenses are lightning rods for attention and impossible for defenses. The Carolina Panthers, meanwhile, came out of the gates this season with more of a stumble than a start.Their offensive explosion in the last three games rivals what the media darlings have produced without garnering quite as much attention. They are going to be mentioned frequently, but they will be cast in the role of an obstacle for the Saints. For now there is only so much air to fill and the Panthers might not make the cut as an elite team. Thatâs irrelevant to their hopes this season.It may have taken a few games to figure out how to use all of their pieces on offense, but their record is still in striking distance of the best in the league. They have won their last three games because of a newfound willingness to put their skill position players in successful situations. Last season saw three losses to the Saints in part because their defense had no answer to Alvin Kamara, but mostly because their offense couldnât keep up.There is still a gulf between the Saints and the Panthers on offense. That will exist until the Panthers prove it doesnât in a head-to-head contest. The ability to use Christian McCaffrey, Curtis Samuel, and D.J. Moore consistently and creatively makes that gulf seem smaller than it once did. They have scored 33 points per game over the last three games. Thatâs more than their season mark in 2015. The Panthers seem destined to play the Saints three times again this season. Their new look offense will be the difference in those games â if the Panthers are able to overcome them at all.Their offense isnât the only unit finding creative solutions to problems. The Panthers began the season a little slow in the secondary and struggling to produce pressure. Eric Washingtonâs first year as defensive coordinator has been rocky to say the least. Much of that has changed with the integration of Eric Reid into the defense. The secondary is now producing turnovers at a greater rate than last yearsâ and the Panthers are getting a variety of players, including Reid Authentic Ryan Kalil Jersey , involved in blitzes that are finally producing results.They are still uncomfortably old at defensive end, a fact that is now unavoidable. Washington has to keep finding ways to manufacture pressure outside of his traditional pass rushers if the Panthers are to have a chance in the playoffs. The offense may be the key to beating the Saints, but balance will be required to tackle the rest of the league. They will have the luxury of competing with less of a circus than they had in 2015 until they face New Orleans.Every game between now and January shapes what the Panthers postseason will look like. At 6-2, they are all but guaranteed a wild card berth at the least. It would require a fantastic failure or travesty of bad fortune for the Panthers to fall short of that. Whether or not they struggle with the Saints, return to bad coaching habits, or grow too long in the tooth on defense between now and then will tell us what this season is. Right now, everything is still in front of them. When Eric Reid of the Carolina Panthers stepped over the sideline and onto the playing field to instigate a heated pregame confrontation with Malcolm Jenkins of the Philadelphia Eagles, the Panthers safety figuratively crossed an important line regarding civility and tolerance. Based on multiple reports including The New York Times and ESPN (please read these articles if you are not familiar with the details of the backstory), the root cause of the conflict is the two men disagree on the best approach to address matters of social injustice and inequality. Both Reid and Jenkins are passionate and thoughtful about these issues. And, as often happens with complex topics, theyâve reached different conclusions about the most appropriate solutions. Thatâs fine. Itâs call civility. Itâs called tolerance. Itâs called diversity of thought. He allowed a philosophical disagreement to boil over into a heated confrontation to the point where he had to be physically restrained by his teammates. After the game, Reid resorted to labeling Jenkins as âcorruptâ, a âselloutâ, and a âneo-colonialistâ.Remember, these are two men who ostensibly agree with each other about the need to raise awareness and find solutions to social injustice and inequality. The conflict is theyâve simply reached different conclusions about the best solutions. Based on his actions, Eric Reid is extremely intolerant toward Malcolm Jenkinsâ sincere, well-reasoned opinions that happen to clash with his own. When debating issues such as these, more tolerance is needed Authentic Greg Olsen Jersey , not less. Some will attempt to justify Eric Reidâs actions under the banner of âpassion.â They will argue that heâs so invested in this cause that his behavior was justified, perhaps even necessary. This perspective is not only wrong but potentially dangerous. My assumption is almost every NFL player is passionate about social and political issues that are deeply personal to them. Some players may feel just as intensely as Eric Reid does about The Playersâ Coalition - some opposing it and others supporting it - but of the 1,500-plus NFL players who take the field every Sunday only one has allowed this âpassionâ to explode into an angry and ugly confrontation. This is not passion. This is a lack of tolerance and civility. Malcolm Jenkins, on the other hand, behaved with thoughtfulness and respect when addressing this issue after the game. According to the Charlotte Observer, when speaking about Eric Reid and Colin Kaepernick, Jenkins said, âYou couldnât pay me to say anything negative about them. I look around the league and Iâm proud of guys that are active in their communities, that are using their voice as a platform like never before â including Colin and including Eric.â Jenkins, the NFLâs 2015 Walter Payton Man of the Year, was making these measured Womens Dontari Poe Jersey , thoughtful statements around the same time Reid was calling him a neo-colonialist.If Eric Reid wants a more tolerant, inclusive world, he should start by demonstrating these behaviors himself. Itâs ironic, if not outright hypocritical, that Reidâs approach is to demean, marginalize, and physically confront people with diverse opinions that differ from his. A more civil world isnât grown by sowing the seeds of incivility. A more tolerant world isnât forged by fanning the flames of intolerance. Eric Reidâs reckless actions donât help solve complex problems, they only serve to make them worse.
