A look at whatâs happening around the majors today:JUST A MINUTERecently suspended players Jose Urena and Yasiel Puig are both appealing their punishments and should remain in action this weekend. Urena http://www.royalsfanproshop.com/authentic-justin-g...imm-jer sey , the Marlins right-hander who plunked breakout Braves rookie Ronald Acuna Jr. with the first pitch of a game Wednesday, was suspended six games by Major League Baseball but was in uniform Friday and could pitch this weekend while the appeal process is completed. Puig also figures to play this weekend for the Dodgers in Seattle as he appeals his two-game ban for fighting and inciting a benches-clearing scrap against San Francisco.CY PAST VS. CY POTENTIALMets ace Jacob deGrom tries to enhance his NL Cy Young credentials when he starts vs. Jake Arrieta and the Phillies at Citizens Bank Park. DeGrom leads the majors with a 1.81 ERA â heâs evened his record at 7-7 after New York recently gave him some long-overdue run support. Arrieta (9-7, 3.33) won the 2015 NL Cy Young Award with the Cubs.BARTOLOâS BALLThe Texas Rangers will honor Bartolo Colon with an on-field tribute before they host the Angels. Earlier this month, the 45-year-old Colon topped Dennis Martinez for the most wins by a pitcher from Latin America.Colon added another victory this week and is 247-186 in the majors. Martinez, who finished in 1998, was 245-193. Martinez will be at Globe Life Park for the ceremony, which will include the Rangers and their players making presentations to Colon.INJURED AND IMPATIENTTrevor Bauer isnât going to let a stress fracture in his right leg get in the way of throwing a baseball. Clevelandâs right-hander will be out four to six weeks with the injury Burch Smith Jersey , but thatâs not stopping him from keeping his arm in shape. Bauer played catch from his knees while wearing a walking boot with an athletic trainer Friday, and he hopes to return faster than the timetable given by manager Terry Francona. The right-hander admitted he didnât take the news very well when he learned heâll be out for an extended period of time.âI was furious,â he said. âIâve pretty much felt the same way since.âON THE JOB TRAININGReds Gold Glove catcher Tucker Barnhart is getting a different look at the diamond. He made his first career start at first base on Friday night after Cincinnati put star Joey Votto on the 10-day disabled list with a bruised lower right leg. Barnhart had seen limited time at Vottoâs spot earlier this season.EVALUATING ERICThe Brewers are hoping for quick recovery for slugger Eric Thames after he injured his left knee colliding with center fielder Lorenzo Cain chasing a flyball Friday. St. Louisâ Matt Carpenter drove a ball into the right-field gap in the first that Thames caught before running into Cain. Both players fell to the ground and remained still for a few seconds before getting up on their own. A Brewers trainer checked with Thames and Cain before the game resumed, and Thames was lifted in the bottom of the third with knee soreness. He is hitting .229 with 16 homers and 37 RBIs in 68 games.LONG, LOSING ROADAngels lefty Andrew Heaney has gone nearly three years since winning a start on the road. His streak of 16 consecutive winless road starts has already tied Rudy May (1965-69) for the longest such streak in team history. Heaneyâs last road win was Sept. 2, 2015 at Oakland. His scheduled start Saturday night at Texas, where he is 0-2 with a 10.57 ERA in two career starts Blaine Boyer Jersey , comes a year to the date after his return to the Angels from Tommy John surgery on July 2, 2016. As Tuesday's trade deadline looms closer, it seems like many of the biggest deals have already been made.It started the day after the All-Star Game when the Baltimore Orioles traded superstar Manny Machado to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and last year's National League champions are hoping Machado can lead them to the World Series and help them to win it a year after losing to the Houston Astros in the seventh game.Other big moves saw the New York Yankees acquire left-handed pitcher J.A. Happ from the Toronto Blue Jays and reliever Zach Britton from the Orioles. The Milwaukee Brewers, who are chasing the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central, acquired Mike Moustakas from the Kansas City Royals, while the Cubs picked up starting pitcher Cole Hamels from the Texas Rangers. There are more deals to be made Trevor Cahill Jersey , and one of the teams that is starting to receive a lot of calls from contenders is the Chicago White Sox. Many thought the rebuilding White Sox would be in a sell mode and players like Jose Abreu and Avisail Garcia could be available. However, long-time MLB insider Peter Gammons of The Athletic reported that the Sox aregetting multiple callson hard-throwing starter Carlos Rodon. While Rodon has not fully developed into the star pitcher the White Sox were expecting when they selected him with the No. 3 pick in the 2014 Draft, he reaches 98 miles per hour on the radar gun and has mixed in some excellent performances with mediocre ones. The 25-year-old Rodon is in his fourth year with the White Sox, and this season he has a 3-3 record, a 3.24 earned-run average and a1.063 WHIP.Rodon would not be eligible to file for free agency until 2022, so it would probably take a major deal for the White Sox to part company with the starting pitcher.Chris Archer of the Rays has drawn quite a bit of interest.Gail Burton/Associated PressChris Archer of the Tampa Bay Rays is another pitcher who has been mentioned prominently as the trade deadline nears. The San Diego Padres, who are not in contention for a playoff spot Melky Cabrera Jersey , are one of the teams that have been talking to the Rays about Archer. The Padres clearly want the right-handed pitcher, but they are only willing to go so far to get him. They have told the Rays that high-level prospect shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. is not available in a trade and neither is left-handed pitcher MacKenzie Gore, according toMLB Network insider Jon Morosi. The Padres are rich with prospects, including catcher-outfielder Francisco Mejia and infielder Jose Urias. Morosi's tweet intimated that San Diego's other top prospects besides Tatis and Gore would be available in a potential trade. The Yankees and Dodgers are also interested in Archer, according to Ken Rosenthalof The Athletic. The 29-year-old Archer has a 3-5 record with a 4.31 ERA and 102 strikeouts in 96 innings. While the Orioles have already traded Machado and Britton, they may not be done. Outfielder Adam Jones may be the next player to leave Charm City.According toESPN reporter Jerry Crasnick, the Cleveland Indians and Philadelphia Phillies may both be at the head of the list. The Indians are in control of the AL Central http://www.angelsfanproshop.com/authentic-zack-cozart-jersey , but they will almost certainly have to compete with the Houston Astros, Boston Red Sox and Yankees if they are going to win the pennant and get a chance to play in the World Series. The Phillies are involved in a tough fight with the Atlanta Braves for the NL East title. The presence of Jones could help the former gain an edge in that battle.Jones is a five-time All-Star, and he has a .285/.312/.434 slash line this season with 11 home runs and 44 runs batted in.
