A feature I was interested in trying in person was the brand new Physics system FIFA 23 Coins . With HyperMotion 2 being touted as an approach to bring real-world physics into the game, I was eager to see if the changes were actually affecting the game. There's a mixed bag in this regard. On one hand, there's the updated ball physics on display whenever you switch the play. The ball rotates and spins in a realistic way as you follow the ball's trajectory.
On the other hand, the features EA pointed out in its pre-release announcements, like collision physics and deflections look and feel exactly the same as the previous year. While the weight of the players has increased for the better however, players still hit each other and produce unrealistic collisions, particularly considering the habit of keeping that finger on the sprint button.
A lot of the new deflections resulting from an extended leg are visible only on replay. Additionally, replays I've seen these shots -- especially those of the power version -- would cause some painful injuries. Deflections and 50-50s will always favor the AI, especially as you become familiar with the new body types and the meaning they convey in terms of acceleration.
HyperMotion and realistic physics simply do not work. There's still way too much movement that is unnatural and slid that detract from what ought to be realistic results. Sliders like OS' Community Sliders assist in slowing the game down and make the game more realistic, but they're only able do only so much when it comes to physical simulation.
