After a record-setting performance in a shutout win last week, Ben Scrivens and the Edmonton Oilers came crashing back to earth Saturday in Boston. The Oilers will try to get back in the win column on Monday when they continue a four-game road trip with a battle against the Buffalo Sabres. Edmonton won its third straight game last Wednesday against visiting San Jose, beating the Sharks 3-0 as Scrivens stopped 59 shots to set an NHL record for saves in a regular-season shutout. Scrivens was busy again on Saturday and he managed to stopped 37-of-41 shots in his clubs 4-0 loss in Boston. He kept the game close by stopping 21-of-22 shots through two periods, but the Bruins scored three times on 19 shots over the final 20 minutes. Scrivens, who was acquired in a trade with Los Angeles last month, fell to 2-3-1 in five games with the Oilers after Saturdays loss. The 27-year-old is sporting a 2.21 goals against average and .944 save percentage since the trade. The Oilers were shut out for the seventh time this season on Saturday, but it was the first time they were blanked since a 6-0 setback to St. Louis on Dec. 21. Edmonton, which will also face the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils on this trip, is just 8-19-4 as the visiting team this season. The Oilers have dropped eight of their last nine on the road. This evenings game at First Niagara Center pits the last-place teams from each conference against each other. Edmonton occupies the basement in the West with 42 points and only the Sabres have fewer points in the NHL with 38. Buffalo will try to put its most recent effort in the rearview when it takes the ice tonight. The Sabres were slammed 7-1 in Colorado on Saturday, losing for the eighth time in 10 games. Matt DAgostini registered the lone goal for the Sabres in the lopsided loss. Starter Ryan Miller was yanked after yielding five goals on 27 shots. Jhonas Enroth finished up by allowing two scores on 12 chances and he expects to get the start tonight. Millers backup has never faced the Oilers in his career. Colorado seized control by scoring three times in a span of just over five minutes in the opening period and the Avs would push the lead to 5-1 by the end of 40 minutes. "They got that early jump, went up 3-0 in the first and never looked back," noted Sabres forward Marcus Foligno. "We were out there looking around. Its not a good feeling getting beat like this. There was nothing good about it." Buffalo is at home for two straight before playing its final game before the Winter Olympic break Thursday in Ottawa. The Sabres have lost six straight on home ice and are 9-15-5 as the host this season. The Sabres and Oilers havent faced each other since Buffalo grabbed a 4-3 home win on Jan. 3, 2012. "I think its a good thing.ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Manti Teo says his rough rookie season has nothing to do with the flak hes faced over getting fooled by a hoax involving a fake girlfriend while at Notre Dame. The San Diego Chargers rookie linebacker said in his first conference call of the season Tuesday that he has yet to play a complete game in the NFL but thats because of his adjustment to the pros and not because hes distracted in any way by the catcalls from opposing teams or their fans. Teo said he does a good job blocking out the chatter from the stands. "Ive definitely heard things, but my job is to go out there and to play ball and do my best and hopefully come out with a win. So, all the other outside stuff, if Im paying attention to that, then Im in trouble," Teo said. "But thats what fans do. They love their team. Theyre passionate about their team, so its nothing that I didnt expect." Teo said he hasnt really caught much grief from opposing players. "I havent really run into any of that. I think as players we understand that were all in the same situation. Were all here to play ball and were here as football players, were trying to provide a life for our families and thats about it," Teo said. "When we step on the football field, its all about football and competing. So, I havent really run into any of that stuff." Yet, when asked a follow-up question about opponents trying to get under his skin, he did acknowledge that they sometimes bring up the isssue.dddddddddddd. "But to be honest, Im so locked into the game that basically I dont really catch it," he said. "And at this point, it doesnt really bother me. So, its no big deal, really." Teo was an All-American linebacker whose draft stock fell after his poor showing in the BCS championship game against Alabama and once the hoax was revealed as front office personnel wondered if hed be mentally tough enough to handle the grief hed face over the girlfriend hoax. The Chargers selected him in the second round of the draft, but his development was slowed by a sprained right foot in training camp and he was inactive for the Chargers first three games. Since then, hes been steady, collecting 69 tackles and breaking up four passes while playing inside linebacker next to Donald Butler. Chargers coach Mike McCoy said Teo is facing the usual growing pains a rookie experiences but "each week hes gotten a little bit better." Teo, however, has yet to record an interception or a sack or really have a big impact on a game for the Chargers (6-7), who visit the Broncos (11-2) Thursday night. "I still havent had a complete game yet," Teo said. "Ive felt the most growth I would have to say the Kansas City game (on Nov. 24). There was a different feel to that game, I was comfortable to a level where I could just move. ... Im looking forward to a time when I can have that complete game and Im constantly working to do that."
