(Sports Network) - The Toronto Maple Leafs will continue their push for the postseason in Florida when they visit the Panthers for tonights battle at BankAtlantic Center. The Maple Leafs enter today as the 10th seed in the East and are just four points behind Buffalo for the conferences eighth and final postseason berth. Toronto is trying to end the longest playoff drought in club history, as the Leafs havent qualified for the postseason since 2004. Toronto earned its latest victory Wednesday night in Raleigh, as rookie James Reimer stopped 36 shots to help the Maple Leafs take the 3-1 decision over the Hurricanes. Carolina is one place and two points ahead of Toronto in the East standings. Dion Phaneuf had two goals and an assist while Tyler Bozak scored the other goal for the Maple Leafs, who had dropped four of five coming into Wednesdays contest. "All year long Ive been saying sometimes they go and sometimes they dont," said Phaneuf. "It was nice to get a couple in tonight and help the team take a big two points." Toronto defenseman Mike Komisarek suffered a lower-body injury in Wednesdays game and is questionable for tonights contest. The Maple Leafs are 15-16-3 as the guest this year and are wrapping up a brief two-game swing tonight. The Panthers, who are seven points behind Toronto in the East standings, have lost two of three and seven of their last nine games. Florida was dealt a loss in its most recent trip to the ice, losing a 3-2 decision Tuesday night against the visiting Philadelphia Flyers. Florida led Philadelphia by a 2-1 score after one period, but Jeff Carter scored twice in the second to lift the Flyers to the win in Sunrise. Stephen Weiss and Dmitry Kulikov scored for the Panthers. Tomas Vokoun played well in the loss, stopping 28 shots. "Its the little mistakes that come back to haunt us," Panthers center Marty Reasoner said of the loss. The Panthers are 2-2-0 so far on a six-game homestand that is set to end Saturday against the New York Islanders. Florida is 14-15-7 at the BankAtlantic Center on the season. Toronto has won two of its three meetings with the Panthers this season, but Florida has taken seven of the last 11 encounters overall. The Maple Leafs have also lost two in a row and four of their last five games in Sunrise. Devils at Senators (Sports Network) - The hard-charging New Jersey Devils will try to stay hot this evening, when they visit the basement-dwelling Ottawa Senators for a battle at Scotiabank Place. The Devils have turned in an amazing second half to the season, posting a 23-3-2 record over their last 28 contests to give themselves a chance at qualifying for the postseason. With 70 points, New Jersey is tied with Atlanta for the Easts 11th seed and the duo are six points in back of Buffalo for the conferences final playoff berth. Ottawa, meanwhile, is last in the Eastern Conference with 59 points and has been relegated to a spoiler role. However, the Senators have won two of their three meetings with the Devils this season and earned a 2-1 regulation victory in New Jersey when the clubs last met on March 8. The Devils have still taken 10 of 13 overall in the series and have won five out of eight in Canadas capital city. New Jersey enters this evenings test on a three-game winning streak and the Devils were able to claim a 4-2 decision over the visiting Atlanta Thrashers on Tuesday. Jacob Josefson scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period to help the Devils record their seventh win in eight games. Travis Zajac, Patrik Elias and Ilya Kovalchuk also tallied for the Devils. Martin Brodeur turned aside 18-of-20 shots to pick up the win. "This is what was expected of us this year. We were supposed to compete at a high level," Zajac said. Brodeur is expected to get the start tonight. The veteran backstop is 35-21-0 with four ties and a 2.18 goals-against average in his career against Ottawa. The Devils have won three straight on the road and have a 15-18-1 record as the guest this season. Ottawa has lost its last two games and was slammed by Pittsburgh on Tuesday in the opener of a three-game homestand. Jordan Staal and Tyler Kennedy both notched a goal and an assist to lead the Penguins to an easy 5-1 victory at Scotiabank Place. Ryan Shannon scored the lone goal for the Senators on Tuesday and Craig Anderson let in all five goals on 41 shots. Anderson suffered an undisclosed injury in the loss and backup Curtis McElhinney could get the start tonight. Ottawa, which will complete its residency Saturday against Tampa, has a poor 11-19-5 record as the host this season. wholesale jerseys . - Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade had 23 points apiece, and the Miami Heat beat the Los Angeles Lakers 101-95 on Wednesday for their sixth straight win. nfl jerseys china . There is considerable interest from fans around the league as well, with all eight teams vulnerable to poaching. Perhaps his best option at landing his first choice at QB, the expansion draft also poses problems for general manager Marcel Desjardins.WACO, Texas -- Turn out the lights, the fiesta is just getting started for No. 9 Baylor. These Bears are headed to a BCS game as the Big 12 champion, making a reality out of the goal that seemed so far out of reach when Art Briles became their coach six years ago. "Thats what hit me," quarterback Bryce Petty said. "This is where it is, this is where that vision was." In what became a de facto Big 12 championship game after Oklahoma States loss, Petty threw for 287 yards with touchdown passes on the first drives after halftime and the Bears beat No. 23 Texas 30-10 on Saturday in the final game at Floyd Casey Stadium after 64 seasons. "Its a defining moment for our program," Briles said, adding he hopes they can repeat it multiple times. "We always believed with him," big offensive guard Cyril Richardson said. "We werent going to disappoint him." The Bears (11-1, 8-1 Big 12), who never even had a winning record in the Big 12 before Briles arrived, have the first 11-win season in school history and are headed to the Fiesta Bowl. That is the reward for their first outright title in any league since winning the Southwest Conference on 1980 when Mike Singletary called Floyd Casey Stadium home. Antwan Goodley made a nifty one-handed grab on a slant pass for an 11-yard TD, one play after Petty overthrew his wide-open tight end at the goal line. After Texas (8-4, 7-2) went three-and-out, Lache Seastrunk had three consecutive runs for 28 yards and Glasco Martin ran 10 yards to help set up Pettys 6-yard TD pass to Levi Norwood and a 17-3 lead. Texas coach Mack Brown made joking references all week about being the only coach in America playing for a conference championship while also shrugging off speculation that he could be replaced. Well, the intense speculation about Browns future is certain to increase now. The regular season is over for the Longhorns without a Big 12 title after losing two of three games -- just like the year started before a six-game winning streak. "Im disappointed in the loss, obviously," said Brown, who didnt want to talk about his future. " I told them they played hard enough, played tough enough, but we didnt make the plays we needed to make. " Norwood came to the postgame interview wearing a cap that read "RIIP Floyd Casey," and said it was hard to put into words what the final game in the stadium and the Big 12 championship meant.dddddddddddd Ahmad Dixon, the senior safety who grew up in Waco, placed in front of the podium a sign declaring the Bears Big 12 champion. He then told everyone to hold their questions, then reached down and pulled out two bags of Tostitos, the sponsor of the Fiesta Bowl. "What does this mean to me?" Dixon said repeating a question, hold up the sign as an answer. "Thats about is. ... It was all just a dream, and that dream just became a reality." Petty finished 21 of 37, with Goodley catching eight of those for 114 yards. Martin rushed for 102 yards with 18-yard TD run in the fourth quarter, one play after officials wiped out K.J. Mortons touchdown on a 60-yard interception return when he was penalized for celebrating before getting into the end zone. Malcolm Brown ran 25 times for 131 yards for the Longhorns. Case McCoy completed only 12 of 34 passes for 54 yards, two interceptions and a touchdown. The score was a 2-yarder to Brown while scrambling on fourth down after the Longhorns took a field goal off the board after a Baylor penalty on the made kick. About the same time the coin toss was happening at midfield in Waco, No. 18 Oklahoma was wrapping up its 33-24 over No. 6 Oklahoma State (10-2, 7-2), which with convincing victories over both Baylor and Texas last month was in the position to win the Big 12s guaranteed BCS berth. Before moving next year into a new $260 million stadium on campus, along busy Interstate 35 and the Brazos River, Baylor had a memorable finish in the final game after 64 seasons at Floyd Casey. Fans in black, green or gold didnt even seem to mind the bitter cold -- the temperature was 24 degrees at kickoff with the wind chill making it feel much colder. And most stayed around to share in the celebration and a stadium closing ceremony, chanting "Big 12 champs!" and "BCS!" That ceremony ended with representatives from different eras in Baylor history turning over one of the eight light standards in the stadium. The last was Briles. "It was emotional for everybody," Norwood said. "Everybody knew it was there, whether it was outright or a share. We wanted to be Big 12 champs." cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '
