Cleveland's quarterbacks are "camping" at training camp.
And Baker Mayfield is paying for it.
The Browns QBs are hanging out between practices in an RV equipped with a TV and other amenities being financed by Mayfield Cheap Lamar Jackson Jersey , the Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 NFL draft pick who has quickly learned that being a rookie comes with obligations.
The idea for the QB clubhouse came from veteran Drew Stanton, who previously had a camper when he played for Detroit.
"I don't think Baker thought I was serious at first," Stanton said Saturday before practice. "Tyrod (Taylor) , when I start getting on my rants in the (quarterback meeting) room sometimes he just kind of starts looking down at his paper because he doesn't want to hear what's coming out of my mouth next. But when Baker figured it out, he did a really good job with it and it's exactly what we needed."
The 30-foot-long camper is parked in the player's lot just outside the team's headquarters. It's an oasis for the Browns' QBs during long days filled with meetings, film sessions, weightlifting and outdoor workouts.
"It's just some place that you can go," Stanton said. "You can get out of these four walls that start to close in on you after a period of time. There's no secret meetings or anything going on. It's not like excluding anybody. Everybody's welcome. It's just a place to go unwind Authentic Ronnie Harrison Jersey , get away from here for the time period that we have off and just nothing more, nothing less."
Browns left guard Joel Bitonio joked that he's looking forward to visiting the QB's private, four-wheeled lair.
"I might have a password or VIP access," he said. "Drew Stanton has given me the green light. I haven't actually made it in yet, but it's my goal this next week, so if I get in, I might spill the beans or something."
Stanton said Bitonio 鈥?and some select other 鈥?can visit whenever they want.
"Any offensive lineman that's protecting us has VIP access," he cracked.
Stanton said the best thing about the camper is that it's a good place for an afternoon nap.
"We've got those beds back there (the field house) Rams John Kelly Jersey , but there's 30 beds and 90 guys. You do the math," Stanton said. "The odds aren't in your favor, but the RV is right next door. It's got a TV in it. Supposedly we're going to try and get some video games in there. But it's literally just a way to get out of this building to go get your mind away from football and do whatever you need to do to get ready for practice."
The Washington Redskins have paired two Alabama defensive linemen in an effort to upgrade their run defense, drafting Daron Payne to join Jonathan Allen in consecutive year first-round picks.
Allen showed star potential until a foot injury cut his rookie season short in the fifth game. Four picks ahead of where they got Allen, the Redskins thought it best to roll with another Crimson Tide big man by taking Payne.
"The more Alabama guys, the better," Allen said during Redskins organized team activities on Wednesday. "I was super excited about. I knew what kind of guy we were getting. I knew he was going to fit in and help us reach our goals."
The Redskins know they must improve their run defense. They finished worst in the NFL last season at 134.1 yards allowed a game 鈥?hurt by injuries to Allen and others.
Considering how the group performed when Allen was on the field, allowing just 88 rushing yards a game Authentic Shaquem Griffin Jersey , Washington could be in store for a massive upgrade.
"(Jonathan) was a key component in the run game and the pass game," linebacker Preston Smith said. "He helped collapse the pocket. He helped stop the run. He's a multi-talented guy."
He is also a healthy guy. Allen, who had 22.5 sacks during his final two seasons at Alabama, deemed himself "100 percent" and pain-free following Wednesday's session.
"I think he did a great job of rehabbing in the offseason," defensive coordinator Greg Manusky said of Allen, who had a Lisfranc injury to his left foot. "We were kind of a little bit hesitant early on when he was here just taking reps and stuff, but looks like he's just keeps on progressing from where he kind of left off last year. The sky's the limit for him."
Allen's presence helped a defensive front that otherwise lacked playmakers. The hope is Payne makes two.
Though not in Allen's class as a pass rusher, Payne's ferocious work helped spark Alabama's win for the national title against Georgia. Early reviews suggest that version of Payne is causing havoc on the Redskins practice field.
"I've seen Payne these few days of practice being really disruptive in the run game and he can pass rush Browns Game Jerseys ," Smith said. "He's a really athletic big guy. I don't know if a lot of people slept on him, but we're thankful for him, that he was there when we got the chance to draft him. We're glad to get him."
Now Payne lines up yet again next to his fellow disruptor and friend. Two other former Alabama teammates 鈥?outside linebacker Ryan Anderson and rookie inside linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton 鈥?also may contribute along the front seven.
Allen sees the defensive line making major moves and genuinely believed the pieces existed for success last season.
Now there's a second Alabama defensive lineman at the point of attack to add to promising holdovers Matt Ioannidis and Anthony Lanier, who are entering their third seasons.
"I really think we're going to be a dominant defense," Allen said. "If we can stay healthy and do what I know we can, there's nothing stopping us."
