Watching LeBron James at shootaround Matt Kalil Jersey , Kevin Love knew something special was in store.
Maybe not the fadeaway jumpers James kept making, each seemingly with a higher degree of difficulty than the last, but he was sure there would be something.
âThis morning you could just sense it,â Love said. âHe knew what was at stake, he knew us getting another win here was going to be huge for us. He came out and he played that way from the jump. You could just sense that he was going to have a special night.â
James had 43 points and 14 assists, Love added 31 points and 11 rebounds, and the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Toronto Raptors 128-110 on Thursday to take a 2-0 lead in their second-round playoff series.
James delivered the first 40-point, 14-assist game in NBA playoff history, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
He added eight rebounds, narrowly missing his second straight triple-double, and connected on 19 of 28 attempts in a performance so dominant that the beleaguered Raptorsâ city was being called âLeBrontoâ by the time the night was over.
âHe got it going and he was feeling it,â Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said.
James, meanwhile, gave credit to Love Bernie Kosar Jersey , who shot 11 for 21 and missed matching his career playoff high by one point.
âIt was great to see that performance out of him,â James said. âHeâs our All-Star power forward. Thatâs a huge game for him.â
J.R. Smith scored 15 points, Jeff Green had 14 and George Hill 13 as the Cavaliers posted their eighth consecutive postseason victory over the Raptors and halted Torontoâs four-game winning streak in Game 2s. The Raptors entered 6-1 all-time when playing Game 2 at home.
âLove got going on us and that was a difficult matchup for us,â Raptors coach Dwane Casey said. âWe have some matchup issues all over the court.â
DeMar DeRozan scored 24 points and Kyle Lowry had 21 for the Raptors. Toronto won a team-record 59 games and finished as the top-seeded team in the Eastern Conference this season, but was easily shoved one step closer to a third straight postseason exit at the hands of James and the Cavs.
Jonas Valanciunas had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Fred VanVleet scored 14 points, but the Raptors lost back-to-back home games for the first time all season.
Toronto matched Houston by going 34-7 at home in the regular season, and went 3-0 at home against Washington in round one. The Raptors had not lost consecutive home games since dropping Games 3 and 4 of the second round to Cleveland last May.
The series shifts to Ohio for Game 3 on Saturday night. Toronto has gone 0-5 at Cleveland over the past two postseasons, losing by an average margin of 24.2 points per game.
âSometimes when youâre put in tough situations, thatâs what brings the best out of you,â DeRozan said. âThatâs what point weâre at now.â
Unfortunately for the Raptors, James insisted the Cavs arenât satisfied with their 2-0 lead.
âWe will not let our guards down,â James promised.
The Cavaliers, who tied a postseason low with three turnovers, are 21-3 at home against Eastern Conference opponents in the playoffs over the past four years.
The Raptors Braxton Miller Jersey , who let a 10-point lead slip away in a 113-112 overtime loss in Game 1, were up 54-45 midway through the second quarter but saw their lead dwindle to 63-61 at halftime.
Cleveland took control as Smith scored six points in an 18-5 spurt to begin the third quarter. The Cavs outscored the Raptors 37-24 in the third to take an 11-point edge into the fourth, and Toronto didnât challenge again.
âThatâs kind of what won the game for us,â Lue said of Clevelandâs big third quarter.
James was on target in Clevelandâs game-changing third quarter, connecting on seven of 10 attempts and scoring 15 points. Love added nine as the Cavs took a 98-87 lead to the fourth.
TIP-INS
Cavaliers: The 24 combined points by James and Love in the third matched Torontoâs total for the quarter. ⦠The Cavaliers are 18-1 in playoff series when they win Game 1.
Raptors: Lowry made his first six shot attempts. ⦠Toronto made 11 turnovers and has 25 in the series, compared to nine by the Cavs. ⦠Lowry led Toronto with eight assists.
SERGEâS STRUGGLES
Serge Ibaka shot 0 for 5 and scored just two points in 12 minutes, and did not return after making a turnover and missing a shot in the first two minutes of the third. Ibaka has nine total points in the series so far.
âSerge hasnât been himself,â Casey acknowledged. âI donât know what it is.â
STAYING SILENT
After a pair of verbal confrontations with Clevelandâs Kendrick Perkins in Game 1, rapper Drake stayed out of trouble in Game 2. Before the game, the NBA asked the Raptors to tell Drake to tone down his act. The three-time Grammy winner has been Torontoâs global ambassador since 2013. Drake shook hands with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver when Silver passed by Drakeâs courtside seats to do a television interview in the second quarter.

More NBA basketball: The city is gearing up and shutting down for its first-ever Super Bowl parade, with universities, schools and government offices all shuttering and mass transit being shifted to serve the needs of parade-going Eagles fans.
Museums, city courts and even the Philadelphia Zoo will close as Philadelphia focuses on Thursdayâs celebrations. Visitors who might be in town for reasons other than feting Sundayâs 41-33 win over the New England Patriots will still be able to visit places like Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.
The parade starts near the teamâs stadium and ends its 5-mile trek at the art museum steps that Sylvester Stallone climbed in the âRockyâ movies â a fitting finish for a team seen as the underdog, just like the fictional fighter.
Organizers said theyâre preparing for as many as 2 million people to jam the parade route. No official estimate was released for the parade after the Phillies won the World Series in 2008 Jessie Bates III Jersey , but crowd assessment experts have said that likely didnât exceed 750,000.
The city doesnât plan to make any crowd estimates for this parade.
Mayor Jim Kenney called on fans to celebrate with passion and pride, again referring to those who committed violence and vandalism late Sunday as âknuckleheads.â
âNow remember â act responsibly, donât ruin this for the fans who have waited decades for what will be a historic day as the Eagles finally parade up Broad Street. We are after all the city of brotherly love and sisterly affection.â
The parade has also touched off a bit of a beer war.
Bud Light will offer free beers to revelers at two dozen bars along the parade route, thanks to a promise its brewer made to Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson before the season.
Not wanting to be upstaged by an out-of-towner, Philadelphia-based Yards Brewing said it will offer fans a free Philly Pale Ale on parade day in the breweryâs taproom.
âWe might not be able to get everyone a beer but we can try,â they tweeted .
The cityâs two subways will be free all day, but groupies coming in from the suburbs might have a trickier time getting into the city.
All 50,000 special parade day tickets for the regional railroad lines were sold out as of 1 p.m., said Andrew Busch, a spokesman for Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority. Weekly and month passes are valid, however.
The rapid-transit system connecting Philadelphia and southern New Jersey planned to stop selling tickets by early Wednesday night for those wishing to take the commuter line to the parade.
PATCO also said having a ticket wouldnât necessarily mean fans will get a ride, and suggested people also consider walking across the nearly 2-mile-long Benjamin Franklin Bridge.
Meanwhile, working off surveillance video Marlon Mack Jersey , social media posts and eyewitness accounts, police announced Wednesday they had made at least eight arrests stemming from the violence and vandalism that occurred during street celebrations late Sunday and early Monday.
Among those arrested were a 28-year-old man accused of assaulting an Associated Press photographer who was taking pictures of street celebrations and vandalism near City Hall, and a 20-year-old who police say was one of seven men seen flipping a car onto its side. Police said the photographer was hit in the face with his camera and punched a number of times in in the head, suffering cuts, bruises and other injuries.
In a tweet , the department urged those involved the postgame mayhem to turn themselves in.
âWhat I donât understand is how dumb people can really be,â the mayor said. âThese days, everythingâs videotaped, and not only is it videotaped on security cameras, itâs videotaped by themselves and their friends and they post it on social media. So, I mean, you put your own wanted poster out on social media for all to see.â
