OAKLAND Kevin Gausman Jersey , Calif. (AP) â Khris Davis asked a young fan from the Make-A-Wish Foundation to sign his jersey, then slugged a mighty home run for the Oakland Athletics in a 9-0 win against the Texas Rangers on Monday night.Davis let 10-year-old Oakland sixth-grader Anthony Slocumb print his name in blue ink on Davisâ white jersey, then wore the uniform while hitting his 37th home run in the third inning. Slocumb, in remission from a rare cancer called Langerhans cell histiocytosis, was at the Coliseum with a group from the Make-A-Wish Foundationâs Greater Bay Area chapter. His mother, Natalie Sanchez, was delighted by Davisâ gesture.âI thought about him around the bases. Thereâs not a better feeling than hitting a home run, so hopefully he got some excitement and joy from watching that http://www.oriolesfanproshop.com/authentic-jonatha...oop-jer sey ,â Davis said. âTheyâre really the stars. ⦠He was excited. I could tell that he was just happy to be here and wanted to have some fun. It was amazing, the look on his face.âDavis never considered switching uniform shirts, either.âI wanted to rock that. I wanted him to know that I was thinking about him,â Davis said. âHe just told me I was his favorite and he was here to watch me play.âDavis gave Slocumb a highlight moment the boy will never forget.âI was down there with the other kids and then two other players came down and then he came down,â an overjoyed Slocumb said in an interview with The Associated Press outside the Coliseum. âSo, I was like, âYouâre my favorite playerâ and he was like, âCool.â I said Zach Britton Jersey , âCan you sign my jersey?â and then he said, âSure, do you want to sign mine, too?â And I was like, âSure,â so we basically signed each otherâs jerseys. Thatâs what happened.âIt was well worth being out late on a school night for Slocumb. He is in his second week of sixth grade at Claremont Middle School. While he wouldnât mind if Davis gifted him the jersey, Davis thought it might be special to keep it or auction it off to help others in need.âThere was a lot of emotion with those kidsâ situations,â Davis said. âItâs the worst situation you can be in probably. I just wanted to put a smile on his face and thought maybe it would mean something if I had my jersey signed by him http://www.oriolesfanproshop.com/authentic-darren-...day-jer sey , so just to know what that feels like to be in my shoes for a split second. Iâm just kind of at a loss for words really.âDavisâ shot was estimated at 438 feet. It came off starter Bartolo Colon and clanked off a window in the suite-level in left-center, a rare spot for home runs to reach here.âWow, heâs awesome,â said Davisâ teammate, Ramon Laureano. âThatâs so emotional, itâs so cool that he did that for that kid.âDavis is seeking a third straight 40-homer season. He hit a career-best 43 home runs in 2017, connecting on the last day of the year to best the season high he set the previous season for Oakland. The 30-year-old Davis is the only Aâs player aside from Jimmie Foxx from 1932-34 with consecutive 40-homer seasons.Davisâ 85 homers the past two seasons were second in the majors only to Giancarlo Stantonâs 86. Mookie Betts and the Boston Red Sox just keep winning.Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Ian Kinsler won Gold Gloves for the World Series champion Red Sox on Sunday night Frank Robinson Jersey , and the Atlanta Braves also were recognized for their fielding excellence this season. The 26-year-old Betts won for the third straight year. He also is a top contender for the AL MVP award.Kinsler got his second Gold Glove at second base, and Bradley won for the first time in center. Teammate Andrew Benintendi also was nominated, but Kansas City Royals left fielder Alex Gordon took home his sixth Gold Glove instead.Atlanta added three Gold Gloves to its surprise NL East title this season. Freddie Freeman and Cubs slugger Anthony Rizzo tied for the award at first base, and center fielder Ender Inciarte and right fielder Nick Markakis also were honored for the Braves.Itâs the third straight Gold Glove for Inciarte. Markakis won for the first time in the NL and third time overall, ending Jason Heywardâs run of four in a row.Oakland, Colorado and Arizona each had two Gold Glove winners in the infield.First baseman Matt Olson and third baseman Matt Chapman were recognized for the Athletics, and second baseman D.J. LeMahieu and third baseman Nolan Arenado won for the Rockies. Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Greinke got his fifth consecutive Gold Glove award, and teammate Nick Ahmed won for the first time at shortstop.St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina took home his ninth Gold Glove http://www.oriolesfanproshop.com/authentic-ubaldo-...nez-jer sey , but his first since 2015. It was a similar situation at catcher in the AL, with Salvador Perez winning for Kansas City for the fifth time after he was unseated by Martin Maldonado last year.Pittsburgh left fielder Corey Dickerson rounds out the NL winners. Houston pitcher Dallas Keuchel and Los Angeles Angels shortstop Andrelton Simmons also won in the AL.
