ST. LOUIS – The series shifts to the Gateway City, where friendly Cardinals fans are ready to pour into Busch Stadium for a live look at their beloved teams fourth World Series appearance since 2004. The switch to National League rules will have a significant effect on the Red Sox lineup. Mistakes, on Wednesday night by the Cardinals and on Thursday by the Red Sox, have cost each team a game in this series. Were down to a best-of-five and St. Louis has home field advantage, although it must win three in a row to clinch here. Game 3 Preview: Pitching Matchup: Red Sox RHP Jake Peavy (Regular season: 12-5, 4.17, 1.147 WHIP in 144.2IP; Playoffs: 2GS: 0-1, 8.31, 1.5 WHIP in 8.2IP) How the Cardinals match up: Peavy spent the first eight years of his career with the San Diego Padres and there are three Cardinals whove played long enough that they remember Peavys days in the National League. Carlos Beltran: 8-20, .400/.480/.800, 1 HR, 3 2B, 1 3B, 6 RBI, 4 BB.Matt Holliday: 8-28, .286/.474/.393, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 10 BB, 7 K.Yadier Molina: 4-22, .182/.182/.182, 1 RBI, 5 K. Lineup Considerations: The Red Sox are well aware that Mike Napoli will be relegated to a bench role in Game 3, as David Ortiz takes over first base in order to keep his bat in the lineup. There is no designated hitter under National League rules. "I think that we certainly have a little bit of a disadvantage, just simply because of the way our roster is constructed as opposed to theirs," said Peavy. "Theyre a National League ballclub, and theyre going to play with their normal lineup, with the way they were built. Being an American League team, were going to miss a huge middle of the lineup bat." Also, manager John Farrell has confirmed left-handed hitting Daniel Nava will start in left field over Jonny Gomes, who played in the first two games at Fenway Park. "With the amount of ground to cover in left field, the left-right matchups against Kelly," said Farrell. "Hell continue to factor in here." Pitching Matchup: Cardinals RHP Joe Kelly (Regular season: 10-5, 2.69, 1.355 WHIP in 124IP; Playoffs: 3GS, 0-1, 4.41, 1.531 WHIP in 16.1IP) How the Red Sox match up: Only Shane Victorino and Stephen Drew, playing in the National League in 2012, have faced Kelly. Each has three plate appearances. Drew has a triple against Kelly and Victorino drew a walk. Lineup Considerations: With the right-hander Peavy pitching for Boston, Cardinals manager Mike Matheny will continue to play Matt Adams at first base. Allen Craig, who has two hits in the World Series serving as the designated hitter, has taken ground balls and is closer to being able to play the field. Craig was activated in time for the Fall Classic, having been out since September 4 with a sprained foot. Game 3 Prediction: With so many unknown factors, including the big mistakes weve seen so far, this predicting has become a challenge. If you look at Kellys season and playoff WHIP, it would suggest were going to see the Red Sox with runners on base. Can they cash them? Sure, but the Cardinals scratch and claw at Peavy and the bullpens will sort this game out. St. Louis is better and so the Cardinals will win, 6-5. http://www.baseballbrewerslockroom.com/scooter-gen...rs-jers ey/ . "Thank you for the warm welcome," Beckham said on an 80-degree February morning. In this case, it was soccer weather. The sport moved a step closer to returning to South Florida on Wednesday, when Beckham confirmed he has exercised his option to purchase a Major League Soccer expansion franchise in Miami. http://www.baseballbrewerslockroom.com/martin-mald...rs-jers ey/ . There are some early surprises in the race for the Hart Trophy, but two of the contenders are the leagues biggest stars over the past decade. There are many more players in contention for the awards than just the three that Ive named, and a good or bad week can easily alter the landscape, but through the first 20 or so games of the NHL season, this is how the awards races look to me. http://www.baseballbrewerslockroom.com/ryan-braun-...rs-jers ey/ . Wilson hit Schenn from behind during Tuesday nights game in Philadelphia, earning a five-minute major for charging and a game misconduct. He has a phone hearing with the department of player safety, which limits any potential suspension to five or fewer games. LOUIS -- Cardinals cleanup hitter Allen Craig says hes recovered from a foot injury and ready to be put on St.CREMONA, Italy -- Italy celebrated 100 caps for captain Sergio Parisse and Martin Castrogiovanni by beating a Fiji side reduced to 11 men at one point 37-31 on Saturday. Despite the advantage of four Fijians being sent to the sin-bin in eight minutes early in the first half, Italy almost spoiled the occasion for two of their rugby greats by blowing a 30-10 lead with 20 minutes to go. Fiji scored three converted tries to pull within six with five minutes left, but time ran out, and Fiji missed out on a fifth straight win to match their record runs in 1934 and 1999. "I wanted to celebrate with a win, but not suffering so much," Parisse said. "But after the heavy defeat against Australia, we had to win and we did so. "Certainly, there are so many things to improve on but you can work more calmly when you get a positive result." Fiji also had replacement Sisa Koyamaibole sent to the sin bin late on to set an unwanted international record of the most yellow cards by one team in a match. As early as the third minute, Fiji flanker Dominiko Waqaniburotu was warned that he was fortunate not to be yellow-carded for a dangerous tackle which forced Luca Morisi out of the match and gifted three points to Luciano Orquera. The first try arrived in the ninth minute with a swift counterattack after Orquera lost the ball to centre Asaeli Tikoirotuma, who raced almost the entire length of the pitch before offloading to fullback Metuisela Talebula. Captain Akapusi Qera was the first to be sin-binned in the 21st for lashing out at scrumhalf Edoardo Gori after play had already beeen stopped for a penalty.dddddddddddd Qera was swiftly joined in the bin by Tikoirotuma for a dangerous tackle and No. 8 Sakiusa Matadigo for a high tackle, and Italy took the lead with a second Orquera penalty. It worsened for Fiji as inside centre Nemani Nadolo was binned for an intentional knock down. Against 11 men, Italy drove Parisse across in a rolling maul for a converted try. Qera came back but Italy managed a second try, with fullback Luke McLean forcing his way over between two tacklers, and Italy bumped its lead to 20-5. Another Orquera penalty started the second half, but Fiji reduced the deficit through a Nagusa try. The Fijians continued to sabotage themselves with more indiscipline. Orquera missed another penalty but Italy extended its lead in the 58th with a penalty try. But up 30-10, Italy was looking far from convincing. Nadolo claimed a try, but Fiji had a fifth yellow card when Koyamaibole was punished for a shoulder charge on Tommaso Iannone. Italy thought it sealed the match when Fijian-born Manoa Vosawai scored for 37-17 with 10 minutes remaining. However, winger Napolioni Nalaga crossed and Nagusa grabbed his second try of the match while Parisse was in the sin-bin. Italy hung on without its captain for its first win since March, ending a streak of four losses. ------ Italy 37 (Sergio Parisse, Luke McClean, Manoa Vosawai tries; penalty try; Luciano Orquera 3 conversions, 3 penalties, Tommaso Allan conversion), Fiji 31 (Timoci Nagusa 2, Metuisela Talebulamaijaina, Nemani Nadolo, Napolioni Nalaga tries; Seremaia Bai 3 conversions).
