Even as the Philadelphia 76ers exceeded expectations this season Clint Boling Jersey , those who have indeed trusted the process still could not have imagined the teamâs quick ascension to the NBAâs elite.
Joel Embiid, for one, isnât about to pump the brakes on what has been a whirlwind ride that has the 76ers heading into their Game 5 home matchup on Tuesday sporting a 3-1 lead over the visiting Miami Heat.
âA lot of people say we have a bright future,â said Embiid, whose 76ers host the Heat at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wells Fargo Center. âBut I think our time is now. We have a special team and I feel like now we have a pretty good chance to go forward.â
Speaking of the now: With their backs against the wall, the Heat are not flailing their arms wildly, looking for any target.
They are pointedly focused on the present: Game 5 and the 76ers.
âItâs not necessarily us against the world,â Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. âItâs us against the Philadelphia 76ers. We have to find a way to finish games. Theyâve really nailed us in the fourth quarters of all four games, except the one we were able to pull away. We just have to do better. Through three quarters, weâve been up. Itâs going to require a full 48-minute game of our absolute best effort.â
Miami has been outscored by Philadelphia by an astounding 42 points in just the fourth quarters through four games. Even in the Heatâs 113-103 Game 2 win at Philadelphia, the 76ers still outscored Miami 28-27 in the fourth quarter.
In a roundabout way, that Game 2 loss â which snapped Philadelphiaâs 17-game winning streak â actually gave 76ers coach Brett Brown some much-needed locker room material heading into the game.
âEverybodyâs trying to break somebodyâs spirit,â Brown said Monday. âItâs always the same thing. It happens on the other side of it. And I know (Spoelstra), who is a great coach Leonard Floyd Jersey , would be in his locker room saying, âAll we got to do is win a game and come home.â
âTheyâre going to live in a really isolated, sort of roomed-in world of, âLetâs just win a game. We won a game last time we were here, and just come home and figure it out.â You can see it.â
Knowing his team can close out a hungry opponent on Tuesday, Brown isnât changing his message too much.
âMy intention is not to speak anything into existence,â Brown said. âItâs all about trying help the team win. Like, we want to get better. Weâre gonna. Weâre going to go into Tuesday night and weâre going to get better. I believe that if we think like that, act like that, coach like that, then the habit becomes, I hope, weâre going to win.â
J.J. Redick, no stranger to heated playoff series Taven Bryan Jersey , echoed his coachâs thoughts on Monday.
In Game 4, Redick led the 76ers with 24 points en route to a 106-102 win in a game that Philadelphia trailed by four after three quarters.
âYouâre feeling each other out and then later on in the series you have to deliver a crushing blow,â Redick said. âYou have to finish that. A team like Miami, their culture, their organization, their group of guys, they have fighters. They have warriors on their team. Every game in this series has been tough and thereâs no indication that Game 5 will be different. Itâs going to be a tough game.â
It wasnât even clear until an hour before the game if Utah rookie Donovan Mitchell was going to play in Game 2 against Oklahoma City.
The Thunder probably wish he hadnât.
Mitchell, who played with a bruised left foot, scored 13 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter to help the Jazz defeat Oklahoma City 102-95 and tie their Western Conference playoff series at one win apiece.
âI think if he was feeling something, he didnât show it and he played through it,â Jazz coach Quin Snyder said.
Derrick Favors had career playoff bests of 20 points and 16 rebounds for the Jazz, and Ricky Rubio had 22 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in the first playoff win of his seven-year career.
Mitchell did his damage attacking the basket. He missed all seven of his 3-pointers, but made 10 of 18 from inside the arc and eight of nine free throws. Mitchell said center Rudy Gobert told him to quit settling for jumpers.
âHe let me know I went 0 of 7 from 3 and Iâm letting guys off the hook Derek Newton Jersey ,â Mitchell said. âWeâve got to keep applying pressure and getting to the rim.â
Russell Westbrook had 19 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds for the Thunder. Paul George, who scored 36 points in Game 1, finished with 18 on 6-for-21 shooting. Carmelo Anthony scored 17 points, but made just six of 18 shots.
âWe just have to be aggressive,â Westbrook said. âWe miss and make shots. Shots are going to fall. Those guys (George and Anthony) are unbelievable scorers, and we have trusted those guys all season long, and we will continue to do that.â
Gobert added 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Jazz, who outrebounded Oklahoma City 56-46 to seize home-court advantage from the Thunder. Game 3 will be Saturday in Utah.
Oklahoma City had two chances in the final minute to trim Utahâs lead with the Jazz leading 99-95, but Anthony missed 3-pointers on back-to-back possessions.
âI thought we had some good shots,â Thunder coach Billy Donovan said. âI think the entire game, we could have executed better.â
Utah led 53-46 at halftime behind 12 points from Rubio and 10 points and eight rebounds from Favors. Oklahoma City made just nine of 25 shots inside the 3-point line in the first half. George led the Thunder with 11 points at the break.
Thunder center Steven Adams picked up his fourth foul with 6:46 left in the third quarter and the Thunder down 65-58, yet Oklahoma City responded with a run. Georgeâs 3-pointer put the Thunder up 69-67. Oklahoma City closed the quarter on a 21-9 run to take a 79-74 lead. The Thunder held the Jazz to 7 for 23 shooting in the third quarter before Mitchell took over in the fourth.
âMiscommunication down on the defensive end at times led to (Utahâs) offensive rebounds,â Anthony said. âThings that we can correct Terrell Davis Jersey , things that we need to correct, things that we will correct on the next game. We threw the first punch. They punched us back tonight, and now, weâve got to go on the road and get a win at their place, and thatâs the mindset.â

STAT OF THE NIGHT
Westbrook, George and Anthony combined to miss all 14 field goals in the fourth quarter and score just two points.
âI donât know,â Anthony said. âWe missed. We all missed. I donât really have an answer to what happened or an excuse to why we didnât make shots. We just didnât make shots in that fourth quarter.â
CONDOLENCES FOR POPOVICH
San Antonio coach Gregg Popovichâs wife, Erin, died Wednesday. Snyder coached the Spursâ G-League team, the Austin Toros, from 2007-2010.
