NBC Sports has hired former NFL official Terry McAulay as an on-air rules analyst for its coverage of "Sunday Night Football" and Notre Dame football.
McAulay retired recently after 20 years as an on-field NFL game official LeSean McCoy Jersey , and a college football officiating administrator for the past 10 seasons.
McAulay will be onsite at "Sunday Night Football" and Notre Dame games, moving between the broadcast booth during the game and the studio set for pregame and halftime shows.
McAulay was a referee for 17 of his 20 NFL seasons (1998-2017), previously serving as a side judge and a field judge. He led the officiating crew in three Super Bowls and worked 15 additional NFL playoff games.
Also, he was the American Athletic Conference's coordinator of football officiating since 2008 (the Big East Conference from 2008-13). As an on-field college official, McAulay was the referee for the Nebraska-Tennessee national championship game in January 1998.
SUNRISE, Fla. â As of Saturday morning, the Florida Panthersâ long-shot hope of making the playoffs is still alive.
By the time they drop the puck Saturday night for their game against the Buffalo Sabres, that flame of hope may have already been extinguished.
The Panthers (42-30-8) need the host Philadelphia Flyers (96 points, four more than Florida) to lose in regulation to the New York Rangers on Saturday afternoon. If that happens Kenny Golladay Jersey , then the Panthers would have to beat the Sabres, who have already clinched the worst record in the NHL.
If those two things go the Panthersâ way, they would then need to beat the host Boston Bruins on Sunday afternoon in the only game on the NHL schedule and on the final day of the regular season. Even with all that, the Panthers would then have to win a tiebreaker.

Itâs a bit messy and not the way the Panthers would prefer things.
âIt would be nice to control our own fate,â Panthers coach Bob Boughner said. âBut we donât have that luxury.
âLetâs just hope weâre in a situation Saturday when the puck drops that weâre in position to make the playoffs.â
The Panthers are also hoping that their best player, center Aleksander Barkov, will be healthy enough to play.
With 6:51 left in Thursdayâs third period against the Boston Bruins, Barkov â skating along the boards â took a hard check from Colby Cave.
It looked like Barkov, who earlier in the night scored his 100th career goal Shawn Williams Jersey , sustained an upper-body injury, possibly to his ribcage, shoulder or elbow.
âI know the doctors are checking him,â Boughner said of Barkov, who scored his 27th goal of the season. âI donât have any (information) right now, but it didnât look great when he was coming off the ice.
âTalking to the ref, (it looked like Barkov) tried to turn away to shield the puck, and, at the same time Samson Ebukam Jersey , (Cave) was coming in on him. I donât really want to make a comment on (the hit). Everybodyâs playing hard at this time of year, finishing hits.
Hopefully, (Barkov) is all right.
With Thursdayâs win, the Panthers tied their 1999-2000 team for the most home victories in franchise history.
The Panthers (26-11-3 at home) can break the record if they beat the Sabres, who have clinched the worst record in the NHL.

The Sabres, though, are not packing it in just yet. On Friday night Josh Sitton Jersey , they put up a great fight in a 7-5 loss at the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Buffalo trailed 4-2 in the second period but scored three straight goals to take a 5-4 lead. Ultimately, the Sabres folded down the stretch.

Even so, it was yet another defeat for the Sabres (25-44-12).
âItâs frustrating,â Sabres forward Jack Eichel told the media. âI thought we got maybe a little passive.â
