Itâs that theyâre making the most of their chances.Still, teams need to be wary of just how much they rely on the very youngest members of their locker rooms: An Associated Press examination of the past 10 seasons shows that the worst clubs inordinately rely on newcomers. Bengals defensive end Carl Lawson is tied for 21st with 7陆 sacks.So the question becomes: Why?âKids are coming into the league better than the previous generation was. And theyâre coming into college more prepared. In an interview on WTMJ-AM Thursday, McCarthy says his message to players departing for the offseason was âthereâs a standard in Green Bay and we didnât meet it.â
The team finished below .500 and missed the postseason for the first time since 2008.
McCarthy addressed reports that offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett and quarterbacks coach Alex Van Pelt are the latest coaches to go. The coach says the situation with Bennett is fluid and they are still communicating. McCarthy says Van Peltâs departure was a contractual personal choice.
Defensive coordinator Dom Capers, defensive line coach Mike Trgovac and inside linebacker Scott McCurley were let go Wednesday. The Packers are looking for a new general manager as Ted Thompson moves to an advisory role.
