PRAGUE, Czech Republic -- With Argentina missing leading player Juan Martin del Potro, defending champion Czech Republic has high hopes of winning their Davis Cup semifinal this weekend and reaching the final for a third time in five years. Also bolstering the Czechs confidence is the reunion of Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek for the first time this year. Moreover, both have been in good form recently. Berdych climbed to his career-highest world No. 5 place in August while Stepanek won the U.S. Open doubles together with Leander Paes of India, a huge confidence boost for the 34-year-old veteran who had to undergo a neck operation earlier this year. "Were the favourite," Berdych said. "We play at home, we play on the surface which we like. We have our home crowd which helps us a lot and we have the strongest team possible. For us the goal is to make three points." Berdych, who lost to Stanislas Wawrinka in the U.S. Opens fourth round, missed the 3-1 quarterfinal victory at Kazakhstan due to an injury, while Stepanek was not available for the first-round 3-2 victory in Switzerland. Lukas Rosol and Jiri Vesely are also on the team but unlikely to play if Berdych and Stepanek remain fit. They played all five rubbers in last years final in Prague, beating Spain 3-2 to give their country its first Davis Cup title as an independent nation.. Stepanek clinched the title with a 6-4, 7-6 (0), 3-6, 6-3 upset victory over Nicolas Almagro in the last reverse singles. "Im 100 per cent fit and ready to play all three days," said Stepanek who only returned from New York City on Monday. But even without the absent del Potro, Argentina wont be a pushover. Led by Juan Monaco, the team reached the semifinals for the fourth consecutive year, thrashing Germany 5-0 in the first round before overcoming nine-time champion France 3-2 in the quarterfinal. "We have chances for sure," Argentine captain Martin Jaite said with confidence. "Davis Cup is always difficult competition. Weve come here to win. So were working very hard to try to beat the Czechs and go to the finals," Jaite said. Argentina has never won the Davis Cup. Carlos Berlocq, Horacio Zeballos and Leonardo Mayer will play alongside Monaco, the highest ranked Argentine at No. 30. Del Potro skipped the Davis Cup this year. The Czech Republic won its last two encounters with Argentina, handing the South Americans particularly bitter 3-2 defeat in last years semis in Buenos Aires on clay. In the second opening singles match, Monaco took a 2-1 lead before Berdych rallied to win. "Last year, I missed a great opportunity, (I have) a new chance now," Monaco said. "On this kind of court, it will be harder for me, but its Davis Cup, you never know, every point is totally different," Monaco said. He also lost to Berdych in five sets in the Czech Republics 2009 victory at home to Argentina in the quarterfinals and is 0-6 overall against the Czech. With plenty of support from a capacity crowd of more than 13,000, who will see their team for the first time since last years triumph, the Czechs have another advantage. As in the final against Spain, they elected to play the series on their favourite fast surface to counter Argentinas clay court specialists. Monaco said he would like to emulate the success of his friend Rafael Nadal, having watched his U.S. Open victory over Novak Djokovic on television in Prague. "It was a match of high intensity. I was happy for him. He really deserved to win," Monaco said. "If youre close to him, you learn things all the time. Every day, you can learn something." Robinson Cano Green Jersey . That left plenty of energy for pitching books and swatting away free agency questions. Anthony had 24 points and nine rebounds, and the Knicks avenged an embarrassing home loss with a rout of their own, beating the Boston Celtics 114-88 on Wednesday night for their third straight victory. Robinson Cano All Star Jersey . -- In a span of seven Washington Redskins offensive plays, Justin Tuck sacked Robert Griffin III four times. http://www.authenticmarinersgear.com/kyle-seager-m...rs-jers ey/ . Traditional contenders Brazil, Greece and Turkey drew the other three spots to complete the 24-team field for this summers tournament in Spain, basketball governing body FIBA announced Saturday at its meeting in Barcelona. Taijuan Walker Jersey . The 29-year-old Baines has established himself as one of the top attacking full backs in the country and was the subject of two bids from United during the last off-season. Everton manager Roberto Martinez says that keeping Baines at the club is a "massive boost and exciting for the future" because he brings "maturity and football knowledge in a very specialized position on the pitch" and an "infectious and positive influence to the rest of the squad. Custom Seattle Mariners Jersey . The players spoke Jan. 13 during a Major League Baseball Players Association conference call after Rodriguez sued the union and Major League Baseball to overturn an arbitrators decision suspending him for the 2014 season and post-season. ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Ryan Getzlaf scored with 5.2 seconds left in overtime, Jonas Hiller made 31 saves in an emergency start to get his 18th career shutout, and the Anaheim Ducks beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 1-0 on Friday night. Viktor Fasth was scheduled to start in goal for the Ducks, but sustained a lower body injury during the warm-ups. So Hiller got the call got his second shutout of the season. Hiller was tested right away, stopping shots by Richard Panik and Mark Barberio during a power play after teammate Luca Sbisa was sent off for interference 1 1/2 minutes after the opening faceoff. The Ducks put 42 shots on Ben Bishop, who was magnificent right to the end. Getzlaf carried the puck into the Tampa Bay zone and took a wrist shot that glanced off the bottom of Bishops arm, but defenceman Sami Salo wasnt able to sweep away the loose puck and it dribbled across the goal line before Bishop could reach back for it. The goal was Getzlafs 13th. It was the first visit to Honda Center by the Lightning since Nov. 3, 2010, when the Ducks beat them 3-2 on another overtime goal by Getzlaf. Kyle Palmieri had a chance to put the Ducks ahead with about 9 1/2 minutes left in regulation when he circled the net and attempted a wraparound with Bishop way out of position, but Salo got his stick in the way at the last instant. Less than 2 minutes later, Tampa Bay centre Tyler Johnson made a terrific deke on defenceman Bryan Allen in the left circle and went in alone on Hiller, who thwarted him at the edge of the crease. The Lightning, who have given up four short-handed goals already this season, were bailed out twice by Bishop in the second period on excellent scoring chances by Andrew Cogliano. The Ducks, who came in with the third-worst penalty-killing percentage, shut down four Tampa Bay power plays before getting their first chance with the man advantaage.dddddddddddd Each team had a potential power play nullified by an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against the player who was fouled. Right wing Tim Jackman made his Ducks debut a day after they acquired him from Calgary, and got into a fight with B.J. Crombeen midway through the first period during his second shift. The last time Jackman played against the Ducks on Oct. 16 at Anaheim, he received a game misconduct for butt-ending defenceman Sami Vatanen during the Flames 3-2 loss. Another of Jackmans new teammates is Sbisa, who got a five-minute major for head-butting him on Feb. 6, 2012, at Honda Center in the Ducks 3-2 shootout win. The Lightning lost the first three games of this western trip in regulation. The point they got out of this one prevented what would have been only the third time in club history that they failed to get a single standings point during a trip of four or more games. The only times it happened were Jan. 16-21, 2001 (Buffalo, Montreal, Ottawa and Columbus), and Nov. 5-11, 1997 (Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Jose and Phoenix). NOTES: Ducks assistant coach Scott Niedermayer was honoured by the club in a pregame ceremony for his induction into the Hall of Fame last Monday. The five-time All-Star was team captain during Anaheims 2006-07 Stanley Cup championship season, winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP. His 18-year career also included three Cups with New Jersey. ... Jackman will get to face his old teammates next Friday at Anaheim. ... Vatanen was recalled from Norfolk of the AHL after the Ducks placed D Francois Beauchemin on injured reserve. ... Crombeen is among 10 forwards in the league who have played at least 20 games this season without scoring a goal. ... The Lightning are 2-3-1 since leading scorer Steven Stamkos broke his right leg on Nov. 10 at Boston. ... Tampa Bay is 6-1 in games that have gone past regulation.
