SONOMA, Calif. Nike Air Force 1 Negras Baratas . -- Jamie McMurray took the time to help rookie teammate Kyle Larson learn the road course at Sonoma Raceway. The payoff for working together was two Chip Ganassi Racing cars in the top three of the starting field of Sundays race. McMurray won the pole for Sundays race with a track record lap that bumped AJ Allmendinger from the top starting spot, and Larson qualified a surprising third. Allmendinger seemed to have the pole locked down until McMurray turned a lap at 96.350 mph in the final minute of Saturdays qualifying session. It broke the record of 95.262 mph set by Marcos Ambrose in 2012. "Great lap, I am so excited," McMurray said. "I thought our car in race trim was really good, really good on the long runs. Were not going to change a whole lot, I feel really good about it." Its the first pole of the season for McMurray, 10th of his career, and third at Sonoma. McMurray also started from the pole last year but finished 25th. He called the qualifying session stressful under NASCARs new knockout format. McMurray was on the verge of being eliminated in the first of the two rounds, but he went out for one last lap to advance into the top 12. Then he bumped Allmendinger as the clock wound down on the final 10-minute session. "I think everybody in the garage area has been stressed out about trying to get that clean lap in qualifying all weekend long," McMurray said. "This knockout qualifying is just an emotional roller-coaster. Theres a lot of highs and lows with it." Allmendinger wound up second in a race he believes he can win. He was out of the Sprint Cup Series a year ago because of a failed random NASCAR drug test in 2012, so while the series was racing at Sonoma, Allmendinger was in the Nationwide Series race at Road America. He delivered in the Wisconsin race for his first career victory and found his way back into a full-time ride in Cup. He wasnt disappointed after McMurray bumped him from the pole, but it eyeing another win. "We were in position to have (the pole), so it could be a lot worse," Allmendinger said. "It sucks when you are that close, but you know what? Jamie put in a heck of a lap. Weve got a clean view of the track when we go green and were going to have some fun tomorrow. Weve got a pretty good shot to win this thing." In a surprise, McMurrays rookie teammate Kyle Larson was third to give Chip Ganassi Racing two cars in the top three. Larson doesnt have a ton of road course experience, and the rookie is admittedly still learning how to shift. Larson, who replaced road course specialist Juan Pablo Montoya in the Ganassi entry, seemed surprised by his run. "It would be interesting to see what Juan could have done today in my car because I dont feel Im that good on road courses," Larson said. "Ive never raced here before. I really rely on McMurray -- I sat in the lounge with him for 15 or 20 minutes and he just went through every corner with me and tried to give me as much information as I needed. Carl Edwards was fourth and followed by Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick and Ryan Newman. The rest of the top 12 included Brian Vickers, Paul Menard, Joey Logano, Danica Patrick and Casey Mears. Patrick has now advanced into the final round of qualifying five times this season. "We would have liked it to be better, but well take it," Patrick said. Hendrick Motorsports goes into Sundays race looking to extend its five-race winning streak, but its drivers will have to come from deep in the field to make it six straight. Jeff Gordon, the all-time winner at Sonoma with five victories, was the highest-qualifying Hendrick driver at 15th. "We pride ourselves on being good on the road courses, especially here at Sonoma," Gordon said. "Obviously we will talk to our teammates, and see what they were dealing with as well. Very disappointed to not have any Hendrick cars in the top-12." Jimmie Johnson, winner of three of the last four races, qualified 22nd. Its his lowest starting spot at Sonoma since 2007. Failing to advance in the final group of 12 in qualifying were road course favourites Tony Stewart, the only Stewart-Haas Racing driver not to make it into the final group, as well as Ambrose and defending race winner Martin Truex Jr. Nike Air Force 1 Blancas Baratas . Maybe it was because hes not comfortable facing a room of reporters, but more likely its because hes all business when it comes to turning around the floundering CFL club. And that wont be an easy task. Asics Gel Lyte III España . As both players sat on the sideline during the changeover before Federer was going to serve to try to force a fifth set, most of the nearly 15,000 spectators began chanting "Ro-ger! Ro-ger! Ro-ger!" Federer did extend the match.TSN.ca presents its latest weekly power rankings for the 2013-14 Barclays Premier League season. Rankings were weighted evenly between separate lists made by TSN Radio host and soccer analyst Gareth Wheeler as well as TSN.cas soccer editors. 1. Arsenal (Last Week-1) Mesut Ozil opened the scoring for the Gunners but they only held the lead for four minutes as they drew Everton 1-1 at Emirates Stadium. Olivier Giroud came a post away from giving the Gunners all the points. Arsenal are still top of the table, five points clear of both Liverpool and Chelsea. 2. Manchester City (LW-2) While Sergio Agueros scoring touch continued so did Citys poor road form as they were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with Southampton. After Agueros strike in the 10th minute, City were wasteful with chance after chance to double the lead before they conceded the equalizer before the half. Aleksandar Kolarov and Aguero were the two guiltiest of not getting that second goal. 3. Liverpool (LW-4) In what was eventually ruled a two goal performance, Luis Suarez once again led Liverpool to a huge victory, 4-1 over West Ham. After scoring his teams third goal in the 81st minute, Suarez fired a ball that deflected off West Ham defender Joey OBrien and into the net. Originally credited as an own goal, the dubious goals panel decided to award the 84th minute marker as a second for Suarez bringing his season total to 15. 4. Chelsea (LW-3) Two Andre Schurrle goals were not enough as Chelsea fell 3-2 to Stoke City. After opening the scoring in the ninth minute, Schurrle pulled his team even in the 53rd, just three minutes after they had fallen behind for the first time in the contest. Chelsea pressed with the game tied and in the short time they had after falling behind, but were not able to find a third goal to leave with a point. 5. Everton (LW-5) Gerard Deulofeu scored in the 84th minute as Everton collected a well-earned point on the road against Arsenal. The Toffees are on a roll after beating Manchester United and collecting a point against the Gunners, they are fifth in the table one point behind Manchester City for fourth. 6. Newcastle United (LW-9) Yohan Cabaye scored the difference maker as Newcastle picked up a 1-0 victory over Manchester United. Tim Krul picked up the clean sheet for the Magpies, who are one point out of the European places and only two points from a spot in the coveted top four. 7. Tottenham (LW-6) After falling behind, Spurs took control of a 2-1 victory over Sunderland. With the help of an opponents own goal, Tottenham won their second straight game as Paulinho also found the mark for the North London side. Jermain Defoe hit the post twice and fired wide with another chance so the game could have been out of sight earlier. 8. Southampton (LW-8) Dani Osvaldo scored one of the goals of the season and the Saints held off a late charge to draw Manchester City 1-1. Osvaldo beat City captain Vincent Kompany and defender Pablo Zabaleta before firing a strike into the top corner of the net just before halftime. While City pressed for a go ahead marker Southampton was with them step for step and in the end got a deserved point out of the contest. 9. Manchester United (LW-7) With Wayne Rooney, who has been their best player this season suspended due to yellow card accumulation, United fell 1-0 to Newcastle to further jeopardize their title defence. The Champions lost back to back home contests for the first time since 2002. They have also picked up only two points from their last four games. 10. Asics Gel Lyte III Blancas . Swansea City (LW-10) Chico Flores scored in the 60th minute to rescue a point for Swansea at home against Hull City. After falling behind after nine minutes of play, the Swans worked their way back into the game and were rewarded with a goal and a point. They also welcomed Michu back into the lineup to hopefully add a spark to their offence going forward. 11. Hull City (LW-12) Danny Graham scored in the ninth minute but it wasnt enough as they drew Swansea 1-1. Graham, a former Swansea man, would enjoy the goal on his return but could not lead his team to the victory. In the end both teams deserved a point from this match. 12. Aston Villa (LW-11) Ten terrible minutes were enough for Villa to fall 2-0 at the hands of Fulham. Gabriel Agbonlahor wasted an early chance for Villa who were pretty even against Fulham, but for the stretch that saw them give up two goals and the game. 13. Stoke City (LW-15) Late Substitute Oussama Assaidi fired home a 90th minute winner to help Stoke City stun Chelsea 3-2. After falling behind in the ninth minute, the Potters battle back to take a 2-1 lead only to see Chelsea pull level once again. Stoke picked up their first league win against Chelsea since 1975 in a very entertaining contest. 14. West Bromwich Albion (LW-13) While the stats say West Brom should have cruised to victory, Norwich found the net twice as the Baggies fell 2-0. Stephane Sessegnon and Shane Long were both wasteful with chances to put their team on the board and in front of their home fans, extended a stretch of only one win in their last nine contests. 15. Cardiff City (LW-14) Though they looked good at times, Cardiff was not able to find a marker as they fell 2-0 to Crystal Palace. Fraizer Campbell almost put the Welsh side ahead in the opening minutes, but was not able to convert. Palace would go on to create the chances that led to the difference in the contest. 16. Norwich City (LW-16) Gary Hooper and Leroy Fer were both on target as Norwich knocked off West Brom 2-0 at The Hawthorns. The Canaries were coming off Luis Suarez masterpiece and showed a good effort to get back into the win column. John Ruddy picked up the clean sheet for Norwich. 17. West Ham United (LW-17) While the score stayed level for almost the entire first half, West Ham was never a threat in a 4-1 loss to Liverpool. A Martin Skrtel own goal accounted for their only scoring in a game where they also produced an own goal courtesy of Guy Demel. Joey OBriens own goal was eventually credited as a second for Luis Suarez. 18. Crystal Palace (LW-19) Tony Pulis led his new Crystal Palace side to a second victory, this time 2-0 over Cardiff City as they continue to fight against relegation. Cameron Jerome and Marouane Chamakh both scored for Palace, who now find themselves in the relegation zone on goal differential alone. 19. Fulham (LW-20) A Dimitar Berbatov penalty and a Steve Sidwell strike were enough to give Fulham a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa. The two goals, scored in a nine minute span, put the game out of reach for the Cottagers who need to keep collecting these points as they find themselves firmly in the relegation battle. 20. Sunderland (LW-18) Their fifth own goal of the season condemned Sunderland to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tottenham. Adam Johnson opened the scoring for the Black Cats, who sit at the bottom of the table, but after Paulinho leveled the score, John OShea put the ball past his keeper for what would be the deciding marker.
