TORONTO -- Iain Hume is fully confident Canada will emerge triumphantly from its first World Cup qualifying group, but warns that his teams remaining games shouldnt be taken lightly. jerseys from china . "All respect to the countries were playing but we should comfortably win this group. But theres not going to be any roll-overs like the two teams so far have shown." The Canadians came out wobbly in their home opener against St. Lucia, conceding an early, long-range goal that had the players shaking their heads in disgust. Canada again didnt play aggressively early on against Puerto Rico, giving up three corners in the first 12 minutes. The team looked disorganized in the first half, but eventually took control once Hume scored. He says Canada isnt suffering from slow starts, its just a matter of not taking it offensively to their opponents early enough. "I dont think overall we were sluggish to be fair," said Hume. "I think more we lacked the killer instinct at both ends of the pitch. I think the goal we conceded against St. Lucia was quite sloppy ... that was a freak shot. But I think we dominated the game. "It should have been out of sight in the first 15-20 minutes and we let ourselves down a little bit by that. "But I think in both games weve proven how much we can go in and dominate games, and its just a matter of killing games off." Canada (2-0) leads the pool with six points, while St. Kitts and Nevis have four. Puerto Rico sits in third with a single point and St. Lucia has none. Only the pool winner advances to the third stage of qualifying in CONCACAF, which covers North and Central America and the Caribbean. The qualifying journey could possibly take two years and 22 matches if Canada was to be successful in reaching the 2014 World Cup. "It is at the end of the day down to us to work hard and keep believing that were going to be all right," said Hume. "Puerto Rico was a professional performance. Not all the connections went well on Sunday. The Colts targeted Whalen nine times, and he caught just three passes. Heyward-Bey was targeted six times and caught just one pass. Luck said hes looking ahead. "I think you hopefully learn from your mistakes," he said. "We did some good things. Its nice to say, We can win without Reggie in the lineup.
