>Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon has been accused of sexual harassment by an assistant for his sports marketing firm Jeff Allen Jersey , according to a California lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed Monday in Orange County Superior Court. According to court documents, Wendy Haskell alleges Moon made âunwanted and unsolicitedâ sexual advances while she worked for Sports 1 Marketing. Moon is the co-founder and president of the company.A call by The Associated Press to Moonâs agent, Leigh Steinberg, was not immediately returned. The Washington Post first reported on the lawsuit Wednesday. The 61-year-old Moon has been working as a radio commentator for the Seattle Seahawks. The team announced that day it had âaccepted Warren Moonâs request for a leave of absence as the clubâs radio analyst.âMoon played parts of 17 seasons in the NFL with Houston, Minnesota, Seattle and Kansas City.According to the lawsuit, Haskell was hired as an executive assistant to Moon in the summer of 2017. The lawsuit alleges that Haskell was forced to sleep in the same bed with Moon on business trips while wearing lingerie. Haskell says in the lawsuit she complained about the arrangement but Moon responded âthis was the way it was.âHaskell contended she was drugged by Moon during a trip to Mexico in October. The lawsuit alleges that Moon acknowledged drugging Haskell because he thought she wasnât âhaving fun.â She also claims Moon pulled off her swimsuit during the Mexico trip.Additionally, the lawsuit claims Haskell was required to keep the bathroom door unlocked while she showered and Moon repeatedly entered the room. The lawsuit claims that Haskell reported Moonâs behavior to Sports 1 Marketing CEO David Meltzer but the company did not investigate her claims. Haskell says she was demoted after making the complaints.Moon threw for 49,325 yards and 291 touchdowns in the regular season and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2006. The former University of Washington star led the team to a 1978 Rose Bowl victory. He went undrafted by the NFL and led Edmonton to five Canadian Football League titles. He became one of the NFLâs first successful black quarterbacks Dan Hampton Jersey , starting his career with the Oilers in the 1984 season.Haskellâs attorney, Diane L. Fitzgerald, told The Washington Post her client had decided to go public with the suit.âShe was expecting to further her career in the sports marketing industry,â Fitzgerald told the newspaper. âShe had no idea that her job duties were going to involve that kind of perverse protocol.â Mo Bamba is fully convinced that heâs ready for the NBA.
He also believes that was the case a year ago.
If Bamba â the massive Texas center who will likely be taking his 7-foot-10 wingspan to a lottery team at the NBA draft next month â was a high school senior in 2020, he probably would have bypassed college and made the jump straight to the league. The expectation around the NBA is that will be the year where so-called âone-and-doneâ rule will come off the books and players will no longer have to wait a season before going to the pro ranks.
So Bamba went to college and waited his turn, though heâs not sure it was needed.
âI thought about it a lot,â Bamba said. âItâs an area I probably would have explored.â
Out of the 30 first-round picks that will be made at the draft, itâs entirely possible that as many as 25 will have played no more than one season of college basketball. Some didnât even play in college â there are a couple of European players likely to be first-rounders, and intriguing combo guard Anfernee Simons did a year of postgraduate work at IMG Academy in Bradenton Jacob McQuaide Jersey , Florida.
Simons tested off the charts at the draft combine this week, with a 41 1/2-inch vertical. Heâs a former Louisville commit, who decided to hold off on college after the scandal that ultimately led to the dismissal of coach Rick Pitino.
âIâve just been working hard on all aspects of my game, trying to get better every day,â Simons said.
The NBA makes no secret of the fact that one-and-done doesnât work ideally for any party involved â the pro ones or the college ones. The league has talked about making 20 the minimum age where a player can enter the NBA; the playersâ union has said it would prefer it going back to 18. And now with the college game on the cusp of massive changes amid an ongoing federal investigation, it seems quite likely that the one-and-done policy will be scrubbed soon.
Bambaâs reaction to that: About time.
âItâs only right by the athletes,â Bamba said. âSome kids have lifelong dreams of wanting to play in the NBA. Not manipulating, but changing the rules so we have more of an option as players is whatâs most beneficial to us.â
There were 38 freshmen who applied to be early entry candidates in this draft. Some will go back to college, but the majority of those should get picked.
Some guys simply needed the year.
Kentuckyâs Shai Gilgeous-Alexander played his way onto NBA draft boards and decided to leave after one season Sean Lee Jersey , with Wildcats coach John Calipari raving about how hard he worked and how much better he got in his one college season.
And Dukeâs Trevon Duval, who had 207 assists in his lone college year, isnât exactly sure that he was ready to go pro out of high school either.
âMy whole thought process and training process would have been a little bit different if the rule was in effect,â Duval said. âI think itâs a good rule. There are definitely kids who can go straight from college to the NBA.â
Sometimes, the perceived one-and-dones get to college and realize theyâre not ready.
Miami guard Bruce Brown Jr. came to the Hurricanes with that one-and-done label. He wound up staying for two seasons, and knows that was the better move for his development. Same goes for Michigan Stateâs Miles Bridges, who insists heâs better for having stayed.
âIâm more ready now,â Bridges said.
In his interviews with teams this week at the combine, Bridges was often asked about why he didnât come out as a freshman. His sense was that they liked his answer.
âThey were kind of impressed with that Barry Church Jersey ,â Bridges said. âSo, me staying was a good thing. I stayed so I could mature and they respect that about me.â
Bamba sees a similar payoff in himself as well.
As much as he would have liked to be in the NBA already, heâs not resentful about having to wait. And he does concede that the college experience made him better than he was when he exited high school.
âI got everything I wanted out of Texas,â Bamba said. âObviously, youâd love to win more. Youâd love to win a national championship and compete at that level. But as far as relationships and development, I couldnât be happier.â
