Changing teams alter a player's value and role in fantasy 鈥?the new circumstances change the opportunity for each player and lead to new outlooks on carries Youth Christian McCaffrey Jersey , touches and other factors.
As the new season approaches, here is a fantasy look at some players who ended up with new teams this season:
QUARTERBACKS
KIRK COUSINS, Minnesota
In Cousins' past three seasons in Washington, he has not finished outside of the top 7 fantasy quarterbacks. He has had at least 4,000 passing yards and 25 passing touchdowns through that stretch. Cousins now finds himself in a Vikings offense with upgraded weapons, including arguably the best WR duo of Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. Cousins provides a safe floor with the upside of being a top 5 fantasy QB in 2018.
TYROD TAYLOR, Cleveland
One of the many offseason acquisitions the Browns made was trading for Taylor. His passing numbers have not been very impressive, hovering around 3,000 yards in each of the past three seasons. Taylor remains fantasy relevant because of his rushing production. Since 2015, Taylor has averaged 525 rushing yards per season with five rushing touchdowns. The Browns have remained committed to Taylor starting since he walked in the door, even after spending the first overall pick on Baker Mayfield.
SAM BRADFORD, Arizona
Even after bringing in Bradford, the Cardinals still traded up to select UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen in the top 10. Bradford is the Cardinals' projected starter for 2018, but Rosen will be breathing right down his neck. Health has always been Bradford's biggest enemy. Given a healthy season, this job should be Bradford's to lose. He came out of the gates last season torching a top 10 Saints defense for 382 yards for three touchdowns while completing 84.4 percent of passes. Bradford looked as good as ever and should find success with the Cardinals. Rosen is an afterthought if Bradford can stay on the field.
RUNNING BACKS
JERICK MCKINNON, San Francisco
There are some high expectations surrounding McKinnon. The former Vikings running back is now among the highest paid backs in the league. He was a highly coveted player of 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan in the offseason. Though McKinnon has never been a three-down back thus far in his career and is dealing with a preseason knee injury, the 49ers have significant plans for him. McKinnon has more upside as a point-per reception (PPR) option Jalen Ramsey Jersey Black , as he will have heavy involvement in the passing game.
DION LEWIS, Tennessee
The Titans were not in desperate need of a running back yet still dished out some money to acquire Lewis. DeMarco Murray's departure led many to believe that Derrick Henry was going to completely take over as lead back. Now with Lewis in the mix, touches are expected to be split right down the middle.
CARLOS HYDE, Cleveland
The Browns brought in Carlos Hyde after a very productive season with the 49ers. Hyde had career highs in carries (240), receptions (59) and rushing touchdowns (eight). Listed as the presumed starter for Week 1, Hyde will have to hold off rookie Nick Chubb. With so many mouths to feed, volume could be all that stands in Hyde's way.
ISAIAH CROWELL, New York Jets
After finishing in the bottom half of most rushing categories in 2017, the Jets went and addressed their need. Crowell was in a bad spot last season with the Browns, limiting how efficient he could be. He now has an opportunity to be an every-down back. Bilal Powell is the only other running back that will push for time due to his help in the passing game. Crowell is a great value in drafts, currently going in the ninth round.
WIDE RECEIVERS
ALLEN ROBINSON, Chicago
Coming off a torn ACL, Robinson now finds himself as the top option in the Bears offense. He has shown us the WR1 upside in the past. Robinson should see well over 100 targets in an offense that is expected to be improved.
JARVIS LANDRY, Cleveland
Another big move the Browns made this offseason was acquiring Landry from Miami in exchange for draft picks. Landry has been a PPR monster in his first four seasons, hauling in a combined 401 receptions. Look for Landry to continue his quality production.
BRANDIN COOKS, Los Angeles Rams
For the second year in a row, Cooks was dealt for a first round draft pick. He has shown consistency over the past three years with at least 65 receptions Womens Roquan Smith Jersey , 1,000 yards, and seven touchdowns in each season. Cooks will be looking for targets in an offense with Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. The Rams have many ways to spread the ball around, which may hold Cooks back. He is being drafted in the fourth round as the 21st wide receiver off the board. That is a nice value for Cooks with the upside he brings to the table.
SAMMY WATKINS, Kansas City
Watkins is now on his third team in the last three years. He was very touchdown dependent with the Rams last season. In fact, 20 percent of his receptions resulted in touchdowns. Expect the Chiefs to use Watkins all over the field. Don't be surprised if Watkins tops his career high in receptions (65). Watkins has as much upside as any wide receiver being drafted in the 10th round.
MICHAEL CRABTREE, Baltimore
After being released by the Raiders in March, Crabtree signed with the Ravens just a day later. The Ravens' top three targets from last season in Mike Wallace, Ben Watson, and Jeremy Maclin are no longer with the team. That leaves 243 targets on the table. Crabtree is the clear-cut No. 1 target for Joe Flacco. He should have a floor of 100 targets and be the primary option in the red zone. This is a change of scenery that should benefit Crabtree.
Nicklas Backstrom dreamed about the road less traveled.
Driving down Constitution Avenue on his way to each home game since his NHL debut in 2007, he imagined the street lined with overjoyed Washington Capitals fans.
âIt always popped up in my head that one time weâre going to have a parade here, and finally that day is here,â Backstrom said.
It all becomes reality Tuesday when Backstrom and the Stanley Cup-champion Capitals give the city its first parade for a major pro sports team since the NFLâs Redskins in 1992. The parade is 26 years in the making for Washington sports fans who endured long, lean years of heartbreak.
âI donât think anyone doubted what this city would do,â longtime Nationals infielder Ryan Zimmerman said. âItâs just a matter of getting there and having the ability to do it. They definitely held up their end of the bargain.â
Tens of thousands gathered for viewing parties of road playoff games on the way to the Capitalsâ first championship since beginning play in 1974. They camped out on the streets to watch on giant video screens â the kinds of scenes more germane to presidential inaugurations in this town than sporting events.
âI thought it was really cool when we were even at home and everyone was outside and going nuts and they would show that right after we would score a goal,â defenseman John Carlson said. âI think that was probably one of the coolest moments of the playoffs for me and just seeing the support. ⦠I think we deserve it, and so do the fans.â
It has been a long time coming. Since the Redskins won the Super Bowl in January 1992 Womens Kareem Hunt Jersey , the 1998 Capitals were the only Washington team in the NHL, NBA, NFL or Major League Baseball to reach a league semifinal until this spring, a drought of 74 combined seasons without a championship.
When the Capitals took the Cup into the Nationalsâ clubhouse on Saturday, coach Barry Trotz wanted players to know: âThereâs no curse or anything. Itâs all gone.â All they had to do to know that was look around the past two months to see the doubt being chipped away.
Nationals manager Davey Martinez, who texted with Trotz throughout the run, got his first real taste of Washington sports in the playoffs with the Chicago Cubs last year when he came out of the dugout seeing 50,000 fans in red and couldnât hear himself think because it was so loud.
âRight then and there I said, `Hey, these people, theyâre in, they love it,ââ Martinez recalled. âThis is exciting. And the city then rallied this year around the Caps. I get it. It was awesome. It was good for the city. Good for us. I know our boys were all in, they were excited about everything. I told them yesterday, `Letâs just keep it rolling. The cityâs all-in.ââ
Washington isnât a city accustomed to being all-in because of the scars of so many playoff failures over the years. Longtime Capitals season-ticket holder Jimmy Patterson said fans became reluctant to get together to watch games because the mood at the end of the night wasnât something anyone wanted to endure in a group setting.
Thatâs part of what made the public gatherings for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference final and throughout the Stanley Cup Final so remarkable. Exorcising franchise-long demons by beating the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round seemed to free fans to actually enjoy themselves.
âIt showed what they were capable of and shows if you get to that level, theyâre going to match it or even step it up a little bit more than the actual players,â Zimmerman said.
Fans celebrating the Capitals beating the Penguins led ESPNâs Michael Wilbon â a former Washington Post columnist â to call D.C. a âminor league sports town.â Itâs not the first knock on Washington Womens Ezekiel Elliott Jersey , though 14 years of playing baseball in the city has given Zimmerman some clarity on explaining that itâs not Boston, Chicago, New York or Philadelphia, and he doesnât think it has to be.
âThis is such an interesting city because not many people are from here, so itâs hard to be a Boston or a Chicago,â Zimmerman said. âThatâs a generational sports town. So itâs nothing against (Washington). They shouldnât be like that. They have no reason to be like that.
âA lot of these people move here for work in their early to mid-20s or come here even later than that and they adopt a team. This is what happens nowadays: Everyone compares everything. Just let it be. Let it be what it is. We have great fans and obviously if you make the playoffs and get to a Stanley Cup finals, you have really great fans just like any city would.â
Thousands of fans are expected to watch the parade, from 17th to 7th on Constitution. Trotz has been thinking about something like this since he arrived in 2014.
âYou start thinking about, `Well, what would it mean?â and then you think about a possible parade on one of the most famous streets in all the world, really, and itâs sort of now coming into play,â Trotz said. âItâs going to come true.â
