During a segment on Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update

As reported by Entertainment Tonight, Pete joked about public reaction to his recent relationships. Speaking to Colin Jost, who recently got engaged to Scarlett Johanson, he wondered why he received so much criticism when news of his relationships hit the press. "You get to date a famous woman and everyone's delighted, but I do it and America wants to punch me in the throat," he said. "There's a million guys who look like me and I'm the only one who has a job."

But then again, I’m new to this." At the time the two were dating, Pete was 25 and Kate was 45.
